Viresh, welcome to the shroomery, no one can give you an exact location, it's against the rules.

Look anywhere you find cattle, buffalo, elephants or horses. Psilocybe cubensis will grow from dung that has aged about a month or two,  never in fresh dung. They also grow in donkey dung.

This is AMAZING!!! Fantastic find! It must feel good to discover something like that! Kinda like when the Columbian Rust Spore just happened to come to somebody like me...somebody who grew 20 + varieties at a time and who trades constantly, all over the world. I think I just did one cake to start, printed about 8 prints, then sent them along. Grod31 was wise enough to send a sample along to Workman.

I sure hope a fruit body from Zimbabwe shows up on Doc's doorstep. This is important stuff! I'd like to see further research conducted with this variety.

I'm not telling OP what to do, I just wanna back up the research and documentation aspect of this find.

Keep those fungus goggles on, OP! Woohoo!!!

dracolusus, I feel your pain, I would have loved to see a print from Africa in my mail box. I think it is extremely expensive in some areas of Africa to send a simple letter, someone shared the postal rate once from an African nation to me and it would have cost something like $21 U.S., that's crazy, I can ship anywhere in the world for a $1.50 U.S..

He probably got tricked by that guy saying he was all about the mushrooms and lost the print. Something should've happened by now

I'm also from Zimbabwe (Harare), I'm so happy that you found some golden teachers in my motherland. Could you please let me know the general area you found them, I would love to visit it and take pictures. Thanks

Ancient thread, but a very cool one. Would love to hear some updates from OP!

Also, with sequencing, has there been many full genome sequences done, or are they all ITS sequences? Would be really interesting to get full sequences and see the minor differences!

Most focus only on the ITS region for identification to species level

This is such an interesting find. I couldn't resist asking. Is there any news about working with this variety?
Have any of you managed to get your hands on prints of this variety, grow and study this shroom?

Looks like typical cubensis, don't think there's anything special about it.
Anyway, you won't get an answer. OP hasn't been logged in for almost 5 years...

Psilocybe natalensis is likely.  I am not sure that P. cubensis occurs in Africa.

Cool! I wasn't aware of any species macroscopically identical to cubensis. I thought the closest one was chuxiongensis. Nice! Does it occour outside africa?
