Question About "Letting Go" on Acid?
    #25687956 -

Everyone always says that you have to "let go" during a bad trip, and that holding on to control is just driving your experience farther and farther south, and this really confuses me. For example, when I have a bad trip, I'll start to feel bugs crawling up my arms and legs, and then they'll get super itchy. It takes every inkling of self control I have to not scratch the shit out of myself. A similar thing happens to my tongue. I'll keep putting it in between my teeth, and again, doing everything in my power not to bite it straight off. So I'm worried that if I give up control, I will end up biting my tongue off or scratching my skin off during a trip. However, this could be just due to paranoia. During bad trips I will often start to think about what would happen if I did dangerous, things, and then those experiences loop in my head. Like when I bought the stuff, my friend told me not to drive on it. During a bad trip, I visualized what would happen if I did drive on it, and it wasn't fun.

The only substance I can compare this situation to is alcohol. When I get stupid drunk, if I keep trying to stay in control, then I'm fine. But as soon as I give up control to the substance, now all of a sudden I'm texting people weird shit, I'm breaking things, I'm trying to pee everywhere except the toilet, and I'll just have no idea what's going on. I know this is kind of rambling, but I'd really appreciate any advice

Damn, thats pretty intense sounding.

Well, the expression of "letting go" while tripping just means embrace whatever comes at you. Typically it refers to bad feelings or emotions, and there is usually a reason for these cropping up during the trip. Once you do embrace whatever comes there is a certain freedom in the experience and you usually feel better afterward.

In your situation, if you must take "L" I would start with a very very low dose. Then give it some months and take a little tiny bit larger dose and work your way up.

Also, if possible, verify that your "L" is well made.

Lastly, "L" is not for everyone. You may simply not be wired for it.

Honestly, I think the hardest thing for me is the idea of letting go. I'm a very controlling person, I have to work with strict rules, schedules and regimes. When things go unexpectedly, it's very hard for me to deal with. SO when I have a bad trip, I start focusing on how it's not going the way I want it to, and it drags me down.

Also, these feelings aren't common for me on acid. I've dropped about 25 times, most of them being by myself and at 200ug, and only two of those trips were bad. I'm just wondering if there's something to the negative experiences, like something I'm supposed to learn and accept that I'm refusing to.

You have more experience than I anticipated. Also, 2 out of 25 is good numbers as far as bad trips are concerned.
Yeah, makes more sense now....you wanting to bite your tounge etc. is just you being tense and fighting the experience.
Perhaps there is something that you fear. Something you do not want to address while you are in that state of mind. That would be my guess. But that is entirely normal man.

Props to you for tripping by yourself mostly. Thats where the most growth occurs. Also my preferred way to trip but I am def an introvert.

IMO, it's vital to go into a trip with no expectations and to just learn what you can good or bad.
The entire experience should be about opening up

i think "let it go" isn't quite a good enough description - it's more like "let it flow, and redirect". if you feel bugs on your legs and arms for instance, try imagining as something else - instead of spiders, pretend it's beautiful glowing butterflies or some sexy person tickling you or something. (obviously this will vary by person and what you're feeling.)

if you keep putting your tongue between your teeth, maybe make funny faces with your tongue sticking out or the like. its perfectly fine to make yourself look silly - its a sign of self-confidence that you can laugh at yourself!

the trick isn't to resist what you feel, but instead direct it toward what you want. this requires creativity, but hey - it can be kinda fun in its own way!

I maintain control on 500-600 micrograms or less.

Going over 700 is when it gets a bit funky, Mates. :awegroove:

here is the thing - You got LETTING GO mixed up with WILD UNINHIBITED SLOPPINESS (as opposed to Control)

With tripping, whether it is a GOOD TRIP OR A BAD ONE, unless you are hiking or dancing, you need to relax to ground your mind and body - either by lying down, sitting, or standing and breathing through the experience by letting go of the tension
- putting your mind into the center of each tight part of the body and letting it go.
There is no shame if you start this relaxing and keep it up for several hours, as it converts a tension trap trip like you describe above, where you are held hostage by your habits and reflexes, into an amazingly memorable energy ride.

Also the relaxation (letting go of tension) that you discover can carry over very positively into ordinary living.

This is it. Think of letting go as following. You're still taking the steps but there's something guiding you along. I had a mescaline trip one time where these fanged bat-dog things were flying out of my leg. Normally this would be cause for concern but once I focused on the details of the bat-dogs it became more like "Well this is pretty cool."

When I think about letting go I think about sitting on a railing and falling over. I think about falling left and right, there's not much scary about that. Then I think about falling over backwards which is where I am totally out of control. Then I think about doing all three at the same time and what that would look like. When I get that visual in my head - POOF! - I'm gone.

I'd suggest you focus on the bugs and see where they're trying to lead you.
