Growing in the basement for the first time at a new place, didn't realize how cold that shit is.
Even with a small heater I am only getting 60-64 deg.
I am leaving this weekend and have a few tubs I may not get to print
My last few shoeboxes haven't been great, struggling with FAE and humidity issues.
But here are a few guys, will do a giveaway in the marketplaace after the 1st when I am back in town.
 A+ pin clone
 PESH
Next year I will plan ahead, I won't heat it and try a few cold weather species instead.

Na man. 10 at night and dry as fuck all the time. It's winter in the north. It makes ur skin crack so just imagine how dry lol.
I'm just keeping up on misting. But during the summer I don't mist at all so to me it's dry as fuck in here.

I would just tent it with a space heater. If you just add some moisture in the air i bet it'd be solid.

Na it's good man, nothing I can't handle. I just have to mist twice a day during winter. It's like this every year. I have a humidifier. Honestly it's just too dry here to make a difference. Easier to just mist when it needs it.

Cold here too, decided to try casing my subs. Iβm wrecking them from misting too much and they still dry out on top. Never cased before and put the casing on before colonization, oops. Another problem has been condensation in my agar plates. Too much temperature fluctuations. Canβt wait for the snow to get deeper, keeps my house at a more consistent temperature.

Hi!
I have been trying to get my own grow going off and on for a year now, with so far not such good results. I've had some issues with contamination, too wet or dry substrates, mistakes in the preparations and a general lack of patience.(making wrong impulsive decisions that would ruin the batch with contamination)
I guess, the usual struggles of a novice grower!
Now I have a new one going on growing on a 1L rye substrate - I might have made some mistakes still, but trying hard to leave it alone now. Has been incubating for about two weeks now, and the mycelium is starting to show. I think I am quite optimistic about it this time.

I have some trouble keeping the temperatures constant since the building I live in is very badly insulated and the central heating shuts down at night - so it might have taken a while longer for the process to get going. My guess is that the volume of the mycelial growth is now good enough that it will generate or retain some of its heat to get through the colder parts of the day. (It's winter here, starting to freeze at night so it'll cool down to below or about 18'C in my room)

Really? Was hoping it was all right. I sprayed some water in there last week - probably a big mistake to open it up - but I was worried it was to dry, nothing was happening.
Seems to be growing since then, but might as well be a coincidence since it was starting to grow anyhow and adding water has nothing to do with it.

Yea make everything on the dryer side. Even if u think it's a little too dry. Just try it. Mushrooms don't need to be soaking wet to grow, they won't grow like that.

Alright, will keep my hands off the next time round. Thank you both for the input.
Will just have to see where this goes in the coming weeks.
