Censorship by Omission in Public Libraries
    #2567597 - 04/16/04 01:52 PM (14 years, 7 days ago)

Go to your public library and check out the section on marijuana and psychedelics. You might find one or two Leary books and lot of anti-drug book on overcoming adictions, but little about the history and usage of entheogens. As these have played a huge role in human culture, one might expect a wide-range of material, but not so.

our free library back home has Marijuana Reconsidered, by Dr. Lester Grinspoon, some book about how hemp will save the planet, Food of the Gods, and True Hallucinations by Terrance McKenna.

most of them are about overcoming alcohol or cocaine addiction though.

now go to a public highschool library. there is where you find the ommission.

that's right.

when the government runs the schools and libraries, the government (or more often, politically correct school boards pandering to loony parents) decides what will and will not be taught or read.

yeah, when the government runs education, only things that benefit the government are taught.

but when private businesses run education, only things that benefit private businesses are taught.

tomayto, tomahto, my friend

there is no easy answer
