Every windows 10 computer Ive used has been slow as heck

Im glad I jumped to GNU/Linux before Windows 10 was even a thing, but I tried to open the calculator app on windows 10 at the library and even that took a second too long to load, which blew my mind its a fucken calculator it should load instantly

and the start menu is atrocious compared to earlier versions, I cant believe people still like this OS

If your still on windows and all you do on the computer is shitpost on the internet you should have switched to GNU/Linux yesterday, everything loads fast and its simple to use if you dont choose something dumb like Arch as a noob, you can play around with different Desktop environments, I was using a tiling window manager called i3 for a while and it was interesting as fuck

shit I dont want to make this about why Linux is good but why microsoft sux

why are you still on windows?

I have Windows 10 with the bash/Ubuntu subsystem. I just use that for anything I actually need Linux for.

I used to run Ubuntu, now I'm on kali. I'm going to switch to subgraph once they have enough testing with it. Subgraph seems legit.

That is really weird.

I just upgraded my OS from Vista to Win 10 professional and its honestly incredible. It feels like a leap in technology.

Everything i run has ran so smooth and effortless, its like a whole new computer. I will say i did replace my motherboard and CPU, but my CPU is the same mod i had before, nothing special, a Intel Core 2 Quadcore. I did increase my RAM from 1GB to 4GB, but nothing fast. Just standard RAM.

Win 10 feels instantous that it feels like no computation is even happening. Sometimes it loads but it doesnt take long at all.

Whats interesting is that thr OS only takes up like 20GB and Vista took like 60GB i think?

Not sure why u are having issues. Win 10 has been a dream so far. It almost feels too good, suspiciously good.

kali's not meant to be run as a every day driver, never heard of subgraph ill have to look it up

I use to run a completely free software stack with Debian, but lately ive just been using mint

maybe ive only used it on shitty computers, ive only used it at the library, the employment centre and my moms laptop, slow in thoses three places

and no way vista takes up 60gb, I think hardrives were only 60gb back then LOL

even if windows 10 is fast though Im too much of a free software nerd to wanna touch a gross proprietary system like that, have you ever read the terms and conditions? I have, but only for windows itself, they also wanted me to read the terms for every piece of software it came with, probably just as bad as windows terms

I'm guessing you went from x1 -1gb RAM to x2 -2gb and if that's the case then going from single to dual channel memory is probably your main performance upgrade.

vista ran like ass on most computers


windows 7 worked fine, my 7 year old laptop on hd boots up fast still

my windows 10 is on ssd so I don't notice, but the way microsoft gets in the way is bothersome
they always try installing shit on my laptop or ask me to use some other program for my files

you can't even look at a microsoft office document anymore it's always asking you to pay because it's rental now
shit sucks

also the install just fucks with your registry, my computer doesn't know which wifi card i use it tries using two sound drives lol never had these problems in 7
and the os didn't take up 80gb's of space

I liked win 7 more but win 10 isn't -that- bad when you modify it a bit; I'm having no major issues and I built this computer 2 years ago

True.

I had a new copy of Vista and it still ran smooth. But Win 10 is just more smoother and quicker. Its great. Very clean, sleek OS in my opinion.

7 > 8 but 8 > 10 and you can get an activated copy for like $10. Microsoft offers the software for free and you can get keys on ebay. I know 7 is starting to have software compatibility issues so 8 might too, but I like 8 more than 10. I reformatted an old laptop recently  with 8 and have been happy with the results.

I like Win 8 but i didnt like how the "Apps" screen was seperated from the Desktop. It felt more like a tablet than a PC OS.

But overall, it was pretty cool. Just didnt like the segregation of the two menus/Desktop.

I think i see what youre talking about now.

Ever since I installed the latest update, its being running like crap. Browser crashing, app hang ups, slow/laggy. Its that damn update! Before the update, it ran flawless. Now it runa pretty shitty. Why Microsoft why!
