Hey guys, I have a question about store petridishes. I have about 20 I poured about2 months ago, and now some are getting greenmold. Everything is sealed, seems to be alot of moisture build up inside them. They are being stored in a fridge at about +5 or so. Any suggestions on wht to do about moistuire build up, and or proceedure on doing dishs. Even a reashi culture I got about 6 month ago is going to green mold.

Are the plates peroxidated? I don't think I've ever had a peroxidated plate contam. If I did have some, they contamed from contamed tissue from a wild specimen.

which way up do you store them? Turning the plates upside down (lid on bottom) stops the condensation from falling on the media. Also what are you cultivating?

I think it was Anno who recommended cooling a stack of poured petris by placing a mug of boiling water on top of the stack, which reduced condensation.
What kind of tape are you using round the edge of the petris?

Yeah I read that hot mug on the stack thing here but if you put them upside down you dont have to worry at all about condensation and its easier

The plate isn't going to contam because of high condensation, it is contaminating because there are contams in there. If the plate is completely sterile when sealed how does condensation just magically make spores to contam the plate? It doesn't, most likely one of two things happened. When going into the fridge, the inside of the plate cools and compresses pulling in air from the unsterile environment of your fridge. Meaning the plate wasn't completely sealed. Or the plate was contamed to begin with and is just now showing it, which isn't likely the case given how long it was alright. I would suggest sealing the plates better or putting a protective layer, e.g. mineral oil, over the agar so contams can't come in contact with it.
