Light cycle, or night/day temperature swings can cause them: some cultures seem more sensitive to it... nothing wrong with it, kind of neat

I was thinking it was something like that. I've never had a problem growing them out they will grow mushrooms. I would agree it does look cool though got APE plates doing it as well.

oh thanks, at 10 thousand posts I would have never thought of that.
anybody else? Surely there's a modern version of fast freds media cookbook? I remember being told that fastfreds recipes weren't to be trusted. I'm sick of digging through the search everytime i want to make agar, surely there's a single post with some good info
(alright, caps mcgee you are now on ignore. Always trying to annoy me without looking like a dick to the public. Dunno what I ever did to you but good riddance.)

Anywhere from 4-10g agar powder, anywhere from 6.5-10g LME to 500ml of water... some agar, some nutes (grain water works instead of lme, as does dog food, potato flakes etc)

Thought my answer WAS simple and direct? Be surprised at how many people don't realize the feature exists... many behave as though... bod is a pretty good go to for anything... and the OP of most his teks have a link for a list of links to all his, and other "bod approved " teks for basically everything

Some of these are pretty random but I have been using cat food and it works great.

oh right on. I was getting tired of the classic fancy ingredients anyways. Last time I tried instant potato agar for the first time, seemed to work normally. Might just have to try fish/cat food.
holy crow thats a lot of recipes. 'Beef heart infusion'
As an offering to the fungus gods we will make agar with our own blood.

Does this mycelium look healthy and ready to transfer? Should I wait a little longer in order to have more growth to take transfers from? I'm hoping to get 8 to 10. Should I be worried that I don't see any ryzhomorphic growth?

Looking good! Iβd do some transfers tomorrow. You donβt have to have rhyzomorphic growth.

Never underestimate the power of tomentose mycelium.

The most aggressive culture I have rn is only displaying tomentose growth. I usually canβt tell where the sectors are at all but itβs going to grains anyway!
