Thought I would share these

One is from mss that only one point germinated, but might have a little need for Isolation.  It is growing fast.  The other 3 are a first transfer with some nice Ryzo growth.

Don't worry fluff gang.  I have 39 plays of fluff I plan to send to grain when they are far enough along.

I am still learning the types of growth lol. I have 3 different growth patterns I am able to notice.  Maybe 4 of you include the couple with some aireal fibers.  I am sure I have some tomentose lol

We do not yet have the terminology to describe what we are witnessing.

But here's an example of a tomentose plate

And here's one that started out tomentose and turned rhizomorphic

That is good to know.  Is the theory that tomentos growth produces less fruit?  Or just colonized slower?

No, some of the best producing cultures I've worked with so far are tomentose, and they grew out just as fast as rhizo growth... people tend to select rhizomorphic growth because it's easier to identify vs some contams..and because it looks cool.. but tomentose growth isn't something to avoid

Edit: after doing a quick search I found an older thread that said rhizomorphic growth does move faster, but I don't know if this is outdated or biased information... from my personal experience, they seem to grow at similar rates.

That's weird.. it kinda looks like a plate pin underneath some overlay, but it's difficult to say from looking at a picture.

After looking again, it almost looks like 2 plate pins underneath the overlay.. almost looks like a long one at the bottom that wrapped around..

I could be wrong.. looks interesting either way 🤔

That is good to know.  I have been planning to put all of my samples to grain if it looks clean regardless of growth pattern.

Hard to tell from the pic but I think you might be right

Here is a better picture, I believe and you can see the myc "moon" at the 4'oclock position orbiting the "earth" transfer piece...

That might just end up becoming a perfect dish. It's very symmetrical. If all the strands are uniform going outward like fans then it'll be fun to watch grow.

It's nice to have this happen, I have another cup with a similar pattern going outward, this one however looks more sexy...

I'm having fun watching it grow and it took forever to get going now it's colonizing faster, but I wonder what it will do when it hits the "moon" myc?

It's Jedi so may the myc be with it...

By the way, don't you find it interesting how and why it goes from tomentos to ryzo, like what is the myc thinking or reacting to change? It would be cool if there was a study as to why myc does what it does...

JMF is just a renamed cube. So more likely it is GT or B+. Sorry no force is going to make it healthy.

For me I would wait a couple more weeks to see what it grows out to look like. I wouldn't be surprised if it grew out and had some good sections for transfers. It is just too early in the transfer to know for sure. I have plenty of overgrown plates that have better transfer sections than a plate that is even younger.
