I usually park in front of the SAB in my underwear and all the iso Iโ€™m constantly applying to gloved hands eventually drip down, soak through em, and hits the snake

Oh yeah been there done that, but in this particular instance my legs must have been squeezing the lab wash bottle as I was concentrating, literally pumping a shit ton of iso all over my sausage.

Anyways I'm curious how storing large amounts of unwrapped plates in ziplocks will work out.



One bag had its outside ISO'd thoroughly, one did not.

And they were not packaged too carefully either.

Worst case I lose some plates. Win if not.

Gonna set these aside for a while and pour some more tomorrow.

If these ones turn out ok I'll wrap them and leave them for a while too, just to see if removing them from the bag is all good too.

Such an annoyance wrapping a bunch of plates just to unwrap them and re-wrap a day or so after.

I'm retarded, you're right I could just put one sleeve on at a time hahah.

That would be ideal for use within a couple days, but I still wanna see how my ziplocks pan out for slightly longer term.

Finally have some growth going on... I should have never used the cheap plastic containers with the green tops and use green dye for the agar.

Forgive the crap pictures but I couldn't get real good pictures. I had to take a few pictures from the bottom.

Yeah the double green kinda makes it hard to see what for sure. The top and bottom pic look ok but I dunno. Transfer it to something else would be my route I suppose. Gotta be able to clearly see that 2D plain seems how that's the purpose of agar is seeing things clearly.

I wrap micropore or other tape around them in stacks of ten, so the lids stay on and together. Then put them back in the tubes they come in and tape that shut. If not available or I have fewer plates, I use ziplocks.

I don't wrap around each one, but wrap one long piece over the top and the bottom of the full stack.

Less likely to open up then, so less likely to get any cotam that's in the air, etc.

Yes, green dye makes it harder to see green contam, which is one of the more common contams. If you use charcole, it looks good, and is a nutrient:

I was clarifying something about "black mold", it's a common incorrect belief that any black mold will kill you.

It's not uncommon someone on here says something, I riff on it, mostly talking to the room, not to that person, and the person gets upset. Happened this week twice now.

Seems to happen here more often than elsewhere, not sure why.

I think part of it has to do with Internet communication getting more snippy lately.

I spend a lot of time and energy on here trying to give back and help people who are new. You're not new.
