For sure.  Not being ageist. I’m quite seasoned myself.

OK, I'd love to talk about actresses and avatars all day, but I have an agar question.
One on the left: contam or not. If so, why?
One on the right: just sharing for fun. Dried to fruit leather. I'm going to put it in the fridge for a year and then try to reanimate it. (IT'S ALIVE!) Who knows. Maybe that works better than slants. haha.

First time playing with agar :grin::grin:  From what I've read, clear mycelium is a nutrient issue in your recipe.  Any suggestions as to what I should do with these?

Haha dude. This is exactly what was happening to that culture after transferring. Did you move the culture from a drawer to a table or something ? Cause I've had it happen more when i opened the plate/let it sit on the table/ put it in the fridge etc.

It was on a bookshelf the entire time. Temperatures tend to fluctuate wildly here if that could contribute to this type of growth, idk.

Isn't it neat?

Pixel art is a lovely and underappreciated kind of art.

I've finally poured plates that are clear and sediment-free.

The clarity was somewhat reduced by the food coloring so the following batch will be be uncolored.

I was getting plates that looked like that, and they filled up in just a few days.. it was a nutrient issue... the mycelium is stretching out quickly looking for food..

Does this plate look alright? I'm planning on trying to get a plate pin to transfer.. is there a particular reason why the center looks this way? I was thinking it might be due to temperature change (cold->warm) but I want to be sure

No. That plate is heavily enmeshed with something bad. You might still be able to get a plate pin, or maybe clean it up, but I wouldn't send that to grain

K, thanks.. I had a feeling something was off, but I was holding out hope because I inoculated a few jars with the T2 and they turned out alright..

Eh, I've got some better clones going now anyway, so I'll probably just toss it.

Reminds me of pennacilin mold. Might even be that, before sporilating (turning green). I'd not open it, tape it up more, and throw it out. I'll open a bacterial plate, but not something with mold that might be dropping spores. Some people here will do that, but I'm worried about contamming the whole room.

I’m new to all this and have tried my hand a LC’s. A simple LME culture worked well for me in the beginning, then I tried all the super power LC’s out there. Couldn’t get a clear culture for the life of me, so have switched to agar.
Unlike the liquid culture, it is going better than expected. I really like the Idea of storing a LC in the fridge for a year so decided to try again emboldened by the advice to take a sample from my plates to inoculate my culture to eliminate the issues of using MSS.
Here is the problem. After going back to what works and making 6 different cultures successfully with spores, I then tried to transfer small clean samples from agar to Jars of the same batch of LC. They became slightly cloudy after only a couple hours while the MSS jars are still clear and healthy.
I am using 1.4g LME and .75g peptone filtered twice. So my question finally…. Does agar make your water cloudy?
I have heard along the way that sometimes it will clear up as the mycelium grows but have not experienced that previously. Any viable feedback would be greatly appreciated. You guys have already helped more than you so let me end this by saying Thanks!
