If you put myc in temps below 50 it will probably go dormant no matter the moisture content .

The nutrients have nothing to do with it going dormant.

Storing myc in water, LI, is primarily good so the myc doesn't get dehydrated. You should still refrigerate LI for storage, as temp swings and high temps can be detrimental, also you are most likely allowing it to continue to"age" and use whatever nutrients it may have stored, leading to scenesence.

I used to be the biggest advocate for LI for lonflg term storage, but a concerned for that imo, if you don't have a appropriate fridge, is it freezing, if anywhere in your fridge gets down to freezing, and God help you have LI there, it will probably die ide figure.

Would be cool to see if frozen myc could be easily revived, almost can't believe someone hasn't done this yet.




With everyone drying grains and stuff, I'm wondering if the nucleus can be regenerated after drying, freezing, 160+ temps.
Not talking good growth or anything beyond that, simply revival, or reawakening.

The water method I was talking about used room temp storage and claimed to be able to store cultures for 10+ years with no need for maintenance transfers or worrying about sensecence.

The complete absence of nutrients is supposed to slow growth completely.
