I made a small batch of no-pours the other day.. the recipe  I used was 7g LME, 11g agar, 500ml h20... I did some transfers, and based on what I'm seeing, I'm guessing I need more nutrients in my recipe. The growth is almost transparent, and it's moving faster than I'd expect.. I couldn't really get a good picture, but I thought posting the recipe I used mite be enough info to get a couple  suggestions..

That’s about what I use, but I use less agar. It wouldn’t hurt to bump the nutes up a bit or add some yeast

Try adding a gram yeast instead. I use the same nute ratio and it's fine.

First time on agar. Used 3 parts potatoe flakes 2 parts agar agar and 1 part honey. Very new to this and not sure what I’m looking at. If you y’all could speculate what’s going on here with my shit pictures. They are very fuzzy. I’ll try to take some pictures with the lids off later today.

Skew away from the last plate. It has some viral shit. That star like growth with the edges growing inwards. Nasty nasty.

Right on. Doing some transfers tonight then and some more agar. Any tips to a noob on agar transfers and  getting rid of condensation. I stack them on top of each other and that helps but not perfect. And here’s a dish from a batch of agar that all ended up like this after inoculation. Bad batch of agar is my guess.

What did you inoculate those plates with? Super bacterial but idk if I would blame the batch of agar.

Well I’m using mss but with an inoculation loop. I tried two different strains on that batch of agar two different days. Ten in all and they all turned out like that one.  I tested that syringe on a different batch of agar. Results pending.

To me it looks like the syringe then. If it was the batch of agar and it was all bad I think you would see it popping up everywhere on the plate not just one giant mass in the middle. The other plates I've seen where the person made a mistake pouring them there was dots of bacteria popping up like crazy.

But I'm not a super expert so maybe someone else will chime in I've been working with agar for about 2 years now but some of the gentlemen and ladies on this forum go through like 500 petris a month.

do you folks think this is tomentose growth or mould? I think the front's ok, so gonna take some wedges from that, but not sure if it isn't just riddled with mould


T1 from a spore drop to lma agar 7g of each for 400ml water...

I wouldn't touch the top of that plate, bottom requires some cleaning as well but looks better.

Variety: Cuba- T2 from MS T1. PDYA on the left, MEAP on the right. Interesting watching the different growth of each. Finally got an incubator, plates being kept at 23C.
