I have my very first PE var going! These PE-6 dishes have really thin, spread out myc, you can barely see it without a light behind it.

           

Its just so thin I don't feel right about making a transfer yet. I should probably just give it a few more days, yea?

So I have a question? This is a b+ clone that I grow out on pf tek cakes and then to agar. I have other players I’m gonna transfer more but what happens if I put a plate like this to grains soon as it grows out the rest of the way. Will I still get great flushes even if not perfect? I don’t want empty jars and empty monos while I wait. Thanks

Maybe it's just the picture, maybe it's me, maybe it's just satellite germination spots, but those kinda look a bit suspect to me

Long as it's clean and the grain is colonized when you spawn it..... won't make a difference

Yeah, part of me is worried too. My PE6 was super aggressive and fast growing, but also very uniform (other myc hasn't been so uniform, like APE). My first guess is that your agar recipe is nute light and it's trying to just grow as fast as possible and eat everything as quick as it can that's causing the light myc. My ealry plates of grain water had this effect on some myc because I assumed it had enough nutes, but switched them over to LME plates and BAM! rhyzo growth. 

What's your agar recipe?

Im using 12g MEA and 230 ml water to fill my 250ml agar media bottle. I just switched from homemade PDA because it was giving me sediment issues.

Heres the PE-6 as of today:

Ummm, maybe start over with that PE6? Seems weak.

i'm fairly inexperienced myself, evaluating cultures on agar. your plate looks like not what you want. there's no organization. the white fluff is jillions of tiny threads. when it's organized, as in growing according to some kinda plan such as, stretch out radially from the center, it's visible. my cue is dryer lint. leading edge of that culture looks like dryer lint. microscopic threads growing from every point in every direction. makes it look plainly fuzzy and like it's spreading by accident, rather than like it's deliberately expanding from the center.

but don't take anyone's word for it. inoculate something with it, and see what you get. i.e. learn by doing.
