That magnet is a cool mod to your flowhood, love the look of the "well used" scalpel, nice patina on the steel... I'll see if I can figure out how to get some cool handles like D3monic, I was going to use some wine corks but he's taken it to a new level...

Yeah, that does look sort of similar but I find mold to have a more "granular" type of look and while "weaker" mycelium might have this appearance in slight I've never seen it as course as the mold(?) in your pictures.

The top contamination started out looking very similar the plates you've shown.

Very elegant, cool idea. I think Jack frost is one of the prettiest cubensis varieties. Have you grown it out or is this a new photo?

My old Ghost and Gandalf plates all develop these weird puffball like growths instead of pins.

Interesting, have you tried fruiting from that culture?

I just whipped up some LC with karo and 4 pieces of oatmeal a piece. Anyone else add oatmeal to LC? This is the first time I am doing it. No comments so far except they do make the liquid slightly turbid.

You always have some beautiful plates, D3.

Have you ever tried transfering one of those puff balls to a new plate, Melliferous?

Yes, many of us make lc from grain which is not agar.
Thread is for agar

I'm a little confused on the straws. What's the purpose of a straw? To poke a neat sample to transfer?

Damn I didn’t know it was still around. I used to go there in the late 90s and it was always super icy. I didn’t know any better until I went to Tahoe during a blizzard and got to ride thigh deep powder for the first time. No going back after that

Pan germ plates are so much easier to pick growth from

That's funny I was just having this talk with a friend last night. I've snowboarded so much slush or icy conditions at mount high and have only felt fresh powder a few times. I'm gonna lose my mind once I start going to better places

Great looking germ plate there
I love the agar succession with pans. Easy to pick, fast growing, beautiful fruits, and insanely powerful

Could anyone please explain why to transfer off a germ plate as early as possible? Is it because you're less likely to pick up contams?

Im having a difficult time selecting transfers at this point looking through a sab.

This is Bod's photo off a thread.

thanks in advance!
