Noob mistakes. I was using a new plate for every transfer at first, which added up pretty quick.

I wasn't able to find a tall SAB so I couldn't effectively G2G, therefore I decided I would just inoculate every jar (100+) with their own plate. It's worked out okay but was wasteful.

Waiting for Myers to restock the 2x4 and then i'll be good to go.

Kind of blew my mind at first when I saw some big grow logs that were just a few A2G jars that were then expanded to bags and fruited... Made me realize just how much you can accomplish with only 3 or 4 plates of a solid culture.

Seems like I could go for a first jar of grain next week and I am thinking about making like 6 slices instead of like 1/3 of a plate and put all these 6 slices in the jar to colonize faster from more different points.

Any disadvantages apart from a small higher chance of contamination?
I know, I am way to impatient. :rolleyes:

its good practice none the less. practice makes perfect.

but yes you will find a lot of it going to waste.

How common is it for RW to put out regular/non-leucistic fruits? All of these pins from T1 plates (maybe except for the one in the second pic) that I just cloned look more like regular cubes and my tub that just started fruiting looks completely like regular cubes as well. Any thoughts?

was in an SAB, and now that you mention it I was about 8 Montucky Cold Snack pounders deep lol I think its from gunk being on the scalpel and when I cooled it in the agar the shit popped all over

Thats why i just take the L and use a new fresh plate to cool when I'm doing transfers I'm going to care about. Well I kind of need to with the leather hole punch. I always felt like that shit EXPLODING from the blade/tool heat in the agar stirs up a couple still airs and most of those plates contam after use.

I heat hole punch
cool in cooling plate
punch out transfers
flame scalpel
cool in cooling plate
transfer.

D3's video showing that exact description.

I also stick to dabs only then drink after my SAB work is done for the day :lolsy:

It happens time to time with all the recessive trait varieties. I'd just start from spore again.

Here I have some plates with growth that am I am liking and will be transferring to fresh plates soon. Some are from a spore plate and some are from tissue samples from pins that came from what I suspected to be a contaminated LC.

How do they look to everyone??

I hate the popcorn shit when you heat the blade so I started wiping it on an iso towel between uses.

If that is what caused the contams you should wipe down the handle up to where the blade locks before you start and heat the blade down to the lock once in a while between transfers. That helped a lot for me.

Hi guys!

I'm trying to improve little wild cube. Took inner part from the fruit and put on agar. Had to cut aggressive growth from both plates and only some slow developing left on #2. 2nd plate looks better to me. Correct? I guess, it's time to make 2nd transfer. How does these look to you? What area(s) should I transfer?

12-1 on plate one and 930-1 on plate two. I’d go for 10-12 personally on the second one.

Hey all...Before starting my agar work, I started reading this thread avidly and have learned an incredible amount. If I can pull this off, anyone can! Here's three plates from my first go-round with activated charcoal. I apologize - my photo chops are still lagging...the mycelium is beautiful but the camera picked up some artifacts and ghosts on the lids. So pretty, at any rate.

Since I don't have any idea of its beginnings due to misplaced label at its inception, I have taken to calling it Myst - short for Mysterioso.
