I remember someone promoting the use of these... I think they didn't bother to tape the gap. Assuming that the threads made enough of a labyrinth that it remained clean. Can you reuse them with a quick PC hit?

I think you are referring to Alien's Holy Grail No pour Agar unmodified containers

Re-usability are one of the best features.

I've run mine through four PC cycles so far with no issues. I got sick of the condensation that comes along with no-pours, so I started sterilizing these containers in half gallon jars and pouring them in front of the flow hood.

Yeah I just foil each half separately. Then if somehow I got some moisture inside i'll let it air out in SAB or flowhood. Then pour.

I've PC'd mine about 10 times with no problems closing tightly.

Yea they are a bit expensive, but if I can use them forever. Why bother with throwing out loads of single use plastic. Most of my Boros have cracked or I've dropped.

I prefer them over the 50 random tupperwares I use too.

See that! I poured these plates on 6/16 and put'em in the dresser drawer.

(Some still contamed on their own, still woikin onnit.)

Anyway this plate was VIRGIN when I put the wedge in two daze ago!
So I'm thinking possibley when the wedge won't come off the blade,
I have to rotate it with my fingers and maybe the fingers are close enough to the edge
of the petri dish to drop contam. (gloves even!) There's cut lines in the agar indicating
a wrestling match with the wedge and blade.

I'm working with zapotecorum for the first time. Would someone be able to take a look at this and let me know a. If this is zap myc and 2. Where i should pull transfers from.

B+ pin, never had such a small dumb looking pin on agar, looks aborted probably won't transfer to new plate (that large splotch is the dimple of the glad container). Are the little dots that form on old plates a contam, or knots?



Now this plate I can't make sense of, and the visibility isn't great into the tupperware.

But there's not really distinguishable tomentose or rhizo growth. But there's these odd linear radiating lines from the center of the dish.

The little dots are knots. Once a plates filled in for a while it usually gets the thicker veins of myc and knots up.

A lot of my agar plates have tomentose mycelium from spore syringe. When i open the dishes for transfers a lot of them smelled slightly minty. Any thougts? I didnt take pics but I will in a few days when the transfers grow out.

Spore plates seem to mostly tomentose ime. Too many strains on top of each other or something but a transfer or two takes care of it.

Never heard of a minty smell lol, might be a little bacterial since it’s a germ plate.

Ive read three possible scenarios

Trich
Yeast
Some mushroom mycelium smell minty to people

Im hoping its the third. Its not a strong bad smell. Some of the wedges i transferred have already started to grow within 12 hours.

I also have new dishes i just noc'd on the 3rd? And i finally have clean hawaiian pes dishes with nice white mycelium and one amazonion plate with rhizo sectoring already. Im stoked. I dont think I shook the pens enough the first time on 6/29

Oh Shit! Also, i have one dime sized piece of myc that has these water droplets in the middle? Theres no condensation at all on that plate. Any thoughts?

Edit: okay i took a minute to snap a pic of the droplets. You can kind of see them in the middle of the myc. Off to walmart for a better phone w camera. Im amazed this shitbox was able to take this pic. Its always blurry.
