I have ordered these plates a couple times. I like them but they too also have no ridges, it makes opening up for pouring really easy. I can run them through the PC and keep using them.

Hey bud if you go to order those again order from the supplier. They are so so much cheaper even with shipping as long as you buy a couple dozen. https://www.hbarsci.com/products/ch0372cpk12 they even have sizes 50 to 120+ mm

I use the 75 mm ones. I find they are the best blend of space to grow out and amount of agar. I pour 40 plates with under 600 ml of agar. I do wish they were clearer but such is life.

I've been thinking about buying some of there poly propelene flasks to pc agar but it's hard to justify when loading up my 250ml media bottle and chucking all 4 in my instant pot for 45 mins while making dinner or doing dishes is so much more efficient

I'm trying to track down kinda the same thing. How do you think they contamed:

  1. Plate did, i.e. from the pour, usually on the edge
  2. Didn't pick a small enough wedge/sliver, usually at the wedge
  3. Wrong spot, not the leading edge of the myc
  4. Bumped the SAB too much (new to me)
  5. Moving too fast in the SAB creating breezes
  6. Evil spirits residing in the room

Ya I'm right there with ya! I never considered how much I bump the SAB.
I've been keeping my fresh plates, no wedges, in a drawer where about 5% will contam at the edge.
Oh also, someone said to work at the back of the SAB, just started trying that.

Working toward the back, or grabbing a fridge rack to elevate your materials above everything else, so that even if you're working or moving around below that, you run less of a risk of blowing anything onto it.
