Just poured some plates. For fun I used some blue food coloring.

Time to order more plates I noticed.

How much you guys pay for a box of petris and how many are in a box?

My vote is that it's debris on the lid and not the plate

It's actually stuck on the inside. Probably got in a hurry doing dishes or something, idk.

Trying to up my agar game after seeing some great examples of D3's tek, shoutout to AZStarman for the inspiration. These look sendable? Or transfer?

RTOG T2

Ochra T3a

Ochra T3b

ESS needs to be transferred again, the T0 plate strains grew together, need to isolate more.

Those are some beautiful plates! Thanks for the shoutout, I’ve never been told I inspired someone! I feel tickled!

I'd really like to try that...Looks amazing.
Will it fruit right there in the plate on the wood?
Is this a thing?

CS works on similar principles but adds another element: the mycelium has to physically force its way through clean agar, which acts like a mechanical filter.
That tunneling not only blocks bacteria, but it also (supposedly) naturally selects for stronger, more aggressive mycelium.

No need for a Biology degree, that right there is the answer. Survival through resilience using non-diluted common sense.

On the bright side, it leaves room for interpretation regarding mycelium and quantum physics. Mycelium parallel realities using a quantum compiler based agar recipe.

I just saw this one...

110 dollars with shipping for 500 from
Southern Labware

Polystyrene petri dish, 100x15 mm, 500 count.

Sometimes they sent 90 mm, not 100 mm, but that's fine.

It's my new way to skip grains and start full agar plates right to wood

No room in agar dish to fruit really I pull the colonized wood off into larger baggie to make wood chip spawn to expand out

U shud try it out post results.

I have bunch of 0.5% lmea agar plates made up for pans.  Read that is was better to use lower nutrient amount for pans.

They seem to be fine for ochra's too.

Are they Ok for semps as well?  Got a wedge coming and don't want to mess it up.

Can’t speak for Semps, but as far as pans and ochras, I have a bunch of nice plates going on plates that I used 1000ml water, 20g agar and 16g LME to make them. I don’t have much experience with these and I am new to agar, so I’m not saying they would or wouldn’t do better on a plate with lower nutes, but they are doing good on these. The temp in the room they are in is ranging from 73-77f.

These plates were at 14 days…

This plate was at 24 hours on a T2 plate…

Looking good.  Pans grow so fast....Someone recommended lower nutrient agar (0.5% lmea) and that has worked well for me.  I was getting a little bit of precipitation (didn't mess anything up) with 1%lmea.  Would just end up with some solids that weren't completely in solution.

I'm gonna see how the semps do on what I have poured.  Can't imagine that it wouldn't grow.  Just might grow a little slower.

Nothing wrong with trying different stuff! I heard the same as you about the lower nute plates. It’s on my radar to do, but I gotta make a bunch of jars as that is next on my list.

It's 0.5% LME but keeping the regular 2%A.

Lew, so if I want to make plates like that would I be using 1000ml water, 20g agar and 5g LME?
