Thanks for advice and info. I'll be doing some transfers later this evening. Gotta make some pastyplates first. This mycelium is a clone taken from my first grow so I'm excited to revive it and see how much better I can do this time around. If I were to isolate this culture would it still have the charecteristics of my first grow? Or is there a chance it would be a different type of strain? Here's a few photos from that first grow.

A clone has multiple sets of genetics, you can see the separate sets as sectors on agar.

What do you guys feel the best temp to pour agar? I bought a gun for testing heat before pouring.

Last dishes I poured have a lot of condensation.  Even as of now.

I usualy just wait till the condensation goes away befor using my dishes. By the time the condensation goes away I usualy know if my dishes are clean because any contaminants would be germinated my then.

Hahaha yeah I feel that, had a few species in the works and had to set them on the back burner because it was a lot to keep organized. Just brought them all back last night though:awedance:

Nah man, supplemented just means adding wheat bran to the sawdust 1:10 ratio. Honestly I think if you increase your spawn ratio you can skip supplementing. It’s a win win. You don’t have to buy bran just use more spawn and your colonization time will be shorter as well

I have heard that a thick non nutritious casing layer is required and that they like sandy loamy soil. Maybe try using some shade cloth as well

I think the idea was that morels will colonize an area of higher nutrition and form mushrooms in areas of less nutrition because the formation of a mushroom is actualy a survival mechanism in morels. I have no idea how accurate this info is cause I read it a looong time ago but that’s my two ¢

Yeah I often get this on my plates, hoping the flowhood takes care of the problem, assuming it’s a contamination.

2 agar questions:

1.  Can I drop a colonized dowel onto a plate?  So I can take it to grain later?

2.  If I have spawn left, can I take a bit of that and drop it on a plate...  to go to grain later?

Thanks!

Yes and yes

This is my stropharia R. Master. Recently I transferred som rhisomorphic portions to some new plates but these new plates grew mycelium that is so thin it’s nearly impossible to photograph, on the other hand, the resulting plates are very uniform. What gives? Where did my rhiso go? Why is the new myce so damn thin??
