I need a spending report for the country. I would need to know which factors can be altered by law.

Some factors I see at play are regulations, taxes, mandates on businesses, and labor rules.

Could you be any more vague?

If you’re saying taxes and regulations are why jobs go overseas, then you’re saying we need to get rid of those to bring jobs back. And unless we have less regulations and taxes than the places where those jobs are (like Indonesia), they aren’t coming back. No company is going to spend astronomically more money to bring jobs back to the US just because you hope they will.

Again, you can’t square this circle. It is simple economics. Companies will do business where it’s cheapest to do business.

What kind of tariffs increase the trade deficits?  The kind that are bunk.  We BOTH know that if the US wanted to reduce the trade deficit it wouldn't be that hard, but taking trillions of profits out of the hands of the elite is very difficult.

What do you propose

Across the board tariffs on all products with the countries we have deficits with that include currency adjustments to create a BALANCE of FREE trade, not the existing BS.

Trump is arguing in very bad faith and the trade deficit statistics show that he's full of shit. I just wish the D's, CNN and the rest of the MSM would call him out on his "tariffs" hypocrisy, but calling him an -ism is so much more important.

Actually, your own statement says it has everything to do with color.  Mexico isn't trying to turn away white people from the north, are they?

One group is broke and dependent and the other group has money to pour into the local economy, which one would you prefer?  But let's make it about color instead of money.

There are adjustments that could probably help bring back manufacturing.

Otherwise, we let corporations enslave other countries with slave labor -- all while you sit back and boast about how clean and upstanding America is.

Oh, and not to mention, we simply will have less jobs.

There is a middle ground.

I see you try to throw a racist angle in there, but that is clearly now defeated.

We have brown people calling other brown people Invaders, which has nothing to do with color.

Like many Trump voters, these Mexican citizens are upset about immigrants flooding their country. Even the mayor of Tijuana said the caravan was a nuisance.

Your race card is about done.

Trump is an ace. He is showing the world that regular people simply don't like thousands of people being dumped into their lives.

But nobody cares about the Mexican or American working class. Their grievances are always second to those of the migrants.

Native population wither away from the darkness cast by the massive pedestal illegal immigrants are given.

Are you responding to me? I didn't say or even imply anything about race. Prejudice, yes, but not race. As a dread locked white urban hippie I am just as much of an outsider to the people I'm talking to as an illegal honduran or a black guy living just outside of the local community. I view all of these people as fellow humans and believe we can work together better than we can work against each other. It's about viewing people as either "others" or fellows and there's not much room to dispute which direction both sides lean on that issue.

Like with the tariffs they already have on US products?  I love this retaliation rhetoric, like China and others have been playing fairly the last 30 years.

That’s exactly the point. Nobody is going to play fairly because the capitalist system rewards those who don’t.

Keep rearranging deck chairs on the titanic tho. Way easier than admitting capitalism’s time has come and gone.

no, not with the level of tariffs they already have, but with higher tariffs.

is it just a game of chicken and ever increasing tariffs until someone blinks?

I dunno why he doesn’t just advocate the US killing other world powers and seizing all the resources and good jobs for ourselves.

“Might makes right” is his go to defense on most things. Why pretend you want some sort of level playing field with all the foreign people you clearly hate?

As far as I'm concerned, the US has nearly a $1 trillion trade deficit every year, how much worse can it get?  To be fair, I'm not blaming our trading partners, this is all sponsored by the elites in the West.

How is asking for a balance of trade equal "foreign people you clearly hate"?  It's about economic nationalism, not globalization.

BTW, if it ever comes down to a fight for resources for economic survival, I think we both know what humans do.

it can get worse by causing necessary goods to be priced out of reach of the poorest among us.

which affects the poorest americans more, a trade deficit or being unable to afford warm clothes in winter for their children?

My apologies, it's more important to use slave labor in third world countries, shut down manufacturing in the US, increase economic inequality, maximize profitability for the elite so Joe Six-Pack can buy cheaper goods at Wal-Mart.

Did you ever think that the average American would be a lot less poorer if they had a higher paying job in their country?

If we produced t-shirts in the US instead of China for instance they would cost 10$ to produce instead of 0.20$, they'd cost 70$ to purchase instead of 10$, and the US employees making them would be paid minimum wage. All profits would still go to the rich, the sweat shops overseas would still operate whether they produce tshirts for the rest of the world or focus on another product, the welathy in both countries would still make the same profit, it would just result in the US working class being unable to afford as many tshirts as they need or purchasing them anyway at the expense of something else. How do you see this unfolding differently than I do?

Because very recent economic history in the US completely debunks that nonsense you just spewed out.

Trump was giving a speech in West Virginia and he went on about how coal is back. Coal is the future. Then he said there was some company that wanted to build a factory to assemble “little computer parts.”  He mocked the idea. He said the people wanted to mine coal.

Pathetic. This is the mentality that got West Virginia where it is today.

Am not actually familiar with West Virginia
but Fallout 76 (lol) is based there with a number of stories based around automation of mining operations and loss of work
is that the sort of direction of real-world West Virginia?

or is this a reference to the area being economically impacted from shifts towards cleaner energy?
