Is it just like leaving a bag of pot open, or heavier scent?

it really depends (how many, ventalation ect.) but 2 flowering plants stunk up my whole friends house, they were in an upstairs bedroom farest from the front door and you could smell them as soon as you went into the house.

it is a heavier scent but also depends on what kind you are growing.

Have any of you tried to combet it using air purifiers/ionizers?

Sweeter when fresh. Beware though if it's in your house you may not notice it, but vistors will. Get some citrusy smellies.

It also really depends on what strain is being grown. Some strains are relatively odourless while others may need an ionizer or something to keep the smell at bay.

im not sure what to compare the smell with, my dad once came visiting and wonderet why i had some dirty shoes layin around that stinked up the place but personally i dont think it smells exactly like old shoes- it smells sweet, it smells like a living plant (not like a bag of buds) andit smells good.

it's one of the best smells in the world. nothing beats waking up and smelling the fresh flowers of a cannabis plant.

carbon scrubbers work very well. vent through them. here's a link http://growgeek.com/activated-charcoal.html
bubblegums and blueberrys don't smell like skunky herb. they smell fruity and can be covered very well with air freshner, etc.
