Indeed, I can explain some science. Wood by default will have a nitrogen content of around 0.1%, whereas black tea around 2%. In addition, as mentioned by Solipsis (who seems to be experienced with T-Gel) both the tea and wood are acidic.
Wood agar does work, but it's usually very tomentose and slow. Tea is better, but fairly tomentose. The addition of 0.04g MG (see here) to 200g of T-Gel, improves speed and growth.
Malt extract is still fairly high in carbon, but contains enough nutrients. Try my current recipe with additional malt extract (0.5-2g).
----
Additional notes:
Most of the macro-micro nutrients in tea, remain locked into the cellulose (leaf). The soluble phenol content in black tea is higher than most wood types.
----
Agar notes:
To set properly the agar must be added to water first, then add the tea-other.

Sorry for the crap pics, I forget my camera at my girlfriend again
Ovoids are nice as allways,I tuned a bit of the FAE
And the strawbags started to pin, but cleary visible that they don't feeling good on it. The top of the straw is drying fast and they pinning on the sides. So some strawbags are cased with CVG so not as simple as oysters but can be as simple as SRA

Well, I find it pretty logical that the good cam is at your girlfriends house. I wouldn't take pictures of my girlfriend with a crappy camera 😂
Pics are still great

So Ferather, i am taking the test to the next level haha ( all at room-temp )
My prepared jar of contaminated woodchip-spawn, before: ( Azurescens with multiple contams )
Added a 50g paper-pallet casing enriched with CaCO3, no extra nutrients for now, 100ml tap-water, no microwave, no sterile-technique.
Day 3: ( no signs on the top yet, but i can see some action from/on the side, so lets wait and see )

May I suggest a bit lower temp for that, like 18 C, other contams don't like that and woodlovers do

Normally i would do this, but i am trying to force a contam on CaCO3 enriched paper-pallets because I've never seen it before.
Also since it is already contaminated with more than one contamination, i maybe get to test more contams at once.
If this would not be the case, then for sure i would lower the temp down to 18°C. Anyway thanks for suggesting

I think it's time for me to eat some crow here.....
That hickory split so cleanly that I thought I would set up a glovebox and split it again and grab some of that clean fresh looking rhizo myc and try to clone that way.
I did clarify that I only struck the block once and it split twice. I should have been more suspicious of that.
I was unable to make another clean split exposing fresh myc. I looked back at photos and discovered the hickory was already cracked at the site of the second split which contained the myc in the picture.
Sorry guys. At this point I am doubting that I have a wood penetrating ovoid. I will edit my original comment to clarify things for readers so no one gets carried away.
Disclaimer: I suppose it's not impossible that ovoid can penetrate solid wood but if the one in these photos does it clearly needs more time and moisture to do so.
Okay, so maybe this was already said in the thread and i didnt see it, or the thing i found doesnt work for psilocybe wood-lovers ( i guess i am wrong, but if i am, i will find out why, because you guys gonna tell me ), ooooor maybe, it is a proof that mycelium penetrates wood.
"Fourier transform infrared microscopy and imaging: Detection of fungi in wood" ( doi:10.1016/j.fgb.2005.06.003 for the sci hub )
Here is a picture from it:
So even it maybe is totally wrong and i made a mistake, this lead me to another thing, that hints for a symbiosis of mycelium and bacteria in wood-degradation.
Thats what i found:
"Co-culturing Effects of Coexisting Bacteria on Wood Degradation by Trametes versicolor" ( DOI 10.1007/s00284-016-1162-1 for the sci hub )
also a picture:
"Conclusions In this study, the effects of co-culturing a white-rot fungus, T. versicolor, and its CEB on an agar plate and wood powder medium were examined. Although a fungal growth-promoting effect was not observed, some bacteria, such as TN6W-4, thickened the mycelial layer of TN6F on the wood powder agar medium, and the degradation of wood powder was enhanced by co-culturing with bacterial strains. Cupriavidus sp. strain TN6W-26 and Enterobacter sp. strain TN6W-27 enhanced the degradation of lignin. These results indicate that some bacterial strains might promote wood degradation."

That last part should be common sense cause even humans share their bodies with beneficial bacteria to help brake down food.

If ya think about my post, then yes, I got the stembuts in cardboard by mail Cloned them onto agar, then multiply them, then the usual things happened

More Ovoid porn they starting to feel themselves fine... 3rd flush maybe, lost count.
alenii on straw (pasteurised straw)
Others have pins too but not so developped that this one, and have some bags cased, that will be great I believe.
And the questionable one that strain is grew outside in the straw bed... I bet serbica, some are wavy some are not
