Well I am running your set up and it hasn't failed me yet, and neither has your advice, so thanks! I'll see what happens.
Should I just run them as normal or maybe pick those mycelium blobs?

Thanks! And no not just one, all 12 of my GT tubs so far are doing the same thing. The 12 Maz I have going though are just fine. It's only the GT, all from the same master jar, from spore, to agar, to grain, to coir.

Sounds like a coincidence more than the cause.

As far as Strain specific, for some reason when I run GT it likes to give me mutants, and these Pes-A look like they're doing the same now. I don't see it this frequently with most of my varieties though.

Maybe this?

Quote:

When A. bisporus produces sectors on grain or on compost, the sectors usually appear as fluffy patches of rapidly growing mycelium or as thick, rubbery areas of matted growth.

Inheritance of Strain Instability (Sectoring) in the Commercial Button Mushroom, Agaricus bisporus, Li, et al https://aem.asm.org/content/aem/60/7/2384.full.pdf

Quote:

The detection of certain undesirable changes in commercial mushroom cultures relies upon the spontaneous expression of sectors (saltation). Research into sectoring phenomena has been hampered by the inconsistent occurrence of visible stromatic inclusions in experimental subcultures. We present reproducible techniques for inducing the expression of sectors in the laboratory. Controlled expression of these phenomena has facilitated our investigations into the mechanisms of sectoring. These new methods have been useful for the analysis of chemical sectorgens. We have also observed a previously unreported condition that we term latent sectoring. Commercial application of these techniques has resulted in process changes leading to improved spawn appearance and performance.

A novel method for inducing the expression of sectors in Agaricus bisporus, Begin & Spear http://www.isms.biz/dublin/volume-13-part-1-article-16/

If you found one of these in your tub before you got a pinset would you pick it off and toss it or leave it alone or what?

if you weren't in a place to experiment with it.

I have seen Mycogone on oyster kits. This year we had batches of +200 bags fucked up by the wet bubble. At first I ID it like Mycogone, but then some things and seeing photos on internet made me doubt. Our spawn supplier told me that it was wet bubble. I have seen it more frequently when the spawn is a little old and gets overheated during shipping. It grows better at temperatures higher than room temp, so cold temps help preventing it. A month ago I made a test puting a colonized oyster bag infected with mycogone on freezer for some days, after that I take the bag out to defrost and let the mycelium recover. The wet bubble died and the oyster ate it vigorously.

Here are some photos I took of what is supposed to be Mycogone on oyster bags:

Sometimes it grows like a "mountain" over the surface, easy to see, but sometimes it grows discreetly over the surface or on the sides of the bag.

Have you noticed more fruits with strange or bad genetics along with the presence of these blobs?

Like deformed shrooms and pins that grow sideways, very crooked, flat or malformed stems, half caps, flipped caps, and other deformities?

I didn't fruit those infected bags. Only the one what got frozen and then overgrown the "mycogone". Infected bags look nice at first, but then the golden droplets disappear and leave dark cavities and the white "mountain" becomes greasy brown-pink  and starts smelling bad because of the bacteria.

When it started happening I thought it was stroma, but ended thinking it was Mycogone. I talked with the spawn supplier, wondering if it could be stroma and he was sure it wasn't. He said Mycogone. The freeze test seems to show that the nasty thing can't survive freezing temps, and do not recover after thaw. Oyster mycelium did recover from thawing, so it makes me think it isn't a blob.
