Some older folks pronounce "heard" "heer'd".
Some older men will call another man "Honey" and it's not gay, apparently.

In Hawaii, there was a bunch of unique words. It was either Pig Latin slang or Hawaiian words that made it unique.

Heres some common ones u probably hear in movies.

Ho - Hey (Pig Latin Slang)
Braddah - Friend, brother, dude (Pig Latin Slang)
Blallah - Big guy, usually a reference to large Hawaiian guys, aka sumos.
Wahine (Wah-He-Ne) - female, girl, woman (Hawaiian)

O'no (Oh-No) - delicious as in food (Hawaiian)
Keki (Kay-key) - kid, child (Hawaiian)
Huli Huli (Who-Lee Who-Lee) - Flip, usually referencing a type of rotessier BBQ chicken (Hawaiian)
Po'ke (Poe-Kay) - a type of fresh seafood salad with cultural fusion influences using raw local fish. (Hawaiian)
Kea - White, snow (Hawaiian)
A'a (Ah-Ah) - type of sharp volcanic rock (Hawaiian)
Pahoehoe (Pa-hoye-hoye) - type of smooth volcanic rock (Hawaiian)
Lava - Lava (Hawaiian)
Lava Lava - type of skirt worn by Hawaiian dancers, typically women but men too. (Hawaiian)
Aina (Aye-na) - land, usually with a sense of spiritual connection to it. Sacred land. (Hawaiian)

We have similar phrases on the west coast of America.

For example, it is considered polite to say "I fucked your mother while your sister watched!"

This is a standard greeting here.

So I remember when I moved to Canada to play hockey they all asked me if nj is like the sopranos lol

I am half italian on my mothers side from the bronx, and I say some things different than my friends sometimes but a lot of us have family from NYC

I mean you know it is and it isn't just like other states I'm sure it's different from county to county

I know South Jersey kids call us bennies?

Auntie: any female older than the kid you're talking to, related or not
Puka - hole, also belly button
Pau - done, finished
Pau hana - literally "done working" but typically references happy hour
Rubbish - trash, trash can
Island time - running late "Steve is always running on island time."
