mycellium, to be or not to be
    #2564749 - 04/15/04 06:16 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Hello. I wanted to ask others here of their experience. See. I first had good results with purchased spores, and future batches were even better with the homemade syringes. But now...
and after a break for about 6-7 months. I did four jars. B+ and has been about 7-8 days. there is very little growth, the weird thing is, that it almost appears that some of the verm is turning white, yet is still transparent to its blackish color. (sorry I have no means for pics.) all other batches I have done in the past were of the "rhizo" type. sorry for the spelling. I dont know if I may have missed something, or if this type of slow growth is common.
I PC 15lbs. 1 hr. using verm/br the pf tek all are at constant 84 degrees
I used 2cc per jar, although I did inject 2 more cc in one jar after about 6 days, and that one seems to be doing better, although its just alot more of this transparent white.
I just wanted to clear confusion, I know most will prob say its mycellium, but my first 6 times doing it in the past before my break looked like much diff. mycellium.
humbley waiting. Thx.

update* It almost appears as if the substrate is drying out. The substrate is looking sort of grey. kinda dry looking, yet there seems to be some condensation on the glass. I see no mold growing. Whats happening here?

Condensation is normal, whether its grains or Rice flour/vermiculite... if you have a mold in the jars it's usualy aparent within a week, mycelium will start a little light and somewhat grey looking but as soon as it has a good foot hold you'll notice it becoming more white... and begin to grow a little faster...

so far it sounds like you are doing great... if you can check out the grow log forum and the contamination forum you'll find lots of pictures to help you along the way... you found a great site for the novices in this hobby and we are glad to have you here...
