wavy cap or excellent look alike? PNW
    #25645111 -

Habitat:
PNW wood chips and mixed bushes side of hill. I found wavy caps here about a month or two earlier in same location.

Gills:
see below

Stem:
white, 1st problem I have no bluing none at all. These are large and older specimen so thought maybe thats why no bluing.

Cap:
see below

Spore print color:
Very important! Look below. I cant make it out its not rusty colored so thats good, but I cant really get a definite purp spore print. looks blackish slightest hue of purple could just be me getting hopes up.

Bruising:
None that I could make out.

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, had the same smell as other wavy caps that mushroom odor just not as overwhelming. Has a slimy pellicle membrane that also points toward wavy caps.

Any help would be great these are the largest I have seen in person and hope they are actives.

Take pictures in natural light. Most of the features are hidden in shadow.

You also need to let them print longer,  that's a weak print. I don't think they are active species.  I'm thinking it could be hypholoma or a similar purple black spore mushroom.

A few more pics in natural light. Just because i dont see bluing leads me to believe there not active looks just like a cyan though in every other regard to me. I let that spore print sit all night last night was week prints.

They do look like P.cyanescens although I'm not seeing any bruising and that's making it difficult to make a decision.

The spore print is also lacking in colour....

I have my doubts so I can't make a concrete identification at this stage.

Keep looking and you will likely find more in better shape.

im going to say no, not cyanescens. i say this because

1- that cap is massive and it is lacking the classic wavy cap. usually specimens that large and mature have a waviness to them, i assume thats standard sheet of paper

2- we dont have a picture of the stipe, that would help a lot! but from what i can see where its been cut. the stem was not white or appears to not be white

3- while your prints are light so it may be hard for me to be sure, i dont see any purple in the prints. they look brown to me, all the cyanescens i have printed are CLEARLY purple, impossible to mistake for brown

4- the 2 dried specimens do not look like my dried cyanescens

5- the cap near the margin does not appear to be striate, at least how i usually see cyanescens at least, if im even using that term correctly lol

i mean looking from top of cap and seeing the gills through the top near the margin
