Mushrooms are dank.  I’m not sure if I’ve ever found a porcini, definately never got to try one yet.  What’s the flavor profile on those janks?

They taste really good they're more for the aroma though dried a bunch of them up and have a freezer full

the way I found my new job was with a big bag of porcini lol the boss likes mushrooms so I gave it to him :sun:

I like to make pasta with them cook them up a bit in some olive oil with a few spices so it's like a white pasta

Porcini is my favourite because they remind me of family

I want to say (if I’m right here) the ones I see, the diameter of the cap is about the same as a baseball.  They pop up in my parking lot, sometimes in pairs or little groups.  I think they’re done for the year though about a month ago.

I should have paid more attention.

I used to have lots of chanterelles growing in the woods here,  so I would trade with the local chefs.

Instead of getting paid I traded one local 5 star chef for some porcini's.

They were good. Firm, tasty. Left me feeling in a new light.

You should clean your mushrooms in the field. It makes them easier to deal with when you want to cook them.

I gotta patch of chantrelles that comes up every year right in my backyard I only get about 15 mushrooms from it though

I only every found them once outside of it about 6km away on my gf parents property but it was a even smaller patch about 5 mushrooms, same type as in my backyard though I wonder if they are related by spores

i dont really hunt anymore too many mosquitos and im a wimp

I actually wonder about that to be honest. Sometimes I do feel like I have a bit of infectious illness following a trip on wild, cow shit sourced mushrooms. Hopefully them being totally desiccated and stored for months has killed off all the bacteria. In any case I barely ever even use the damn things anymore, the whole experience is just blech to me now

I mean cyans are pure magic tho

Re: Mushroom hunting [Re: cannabinated]
    #25645205 -

yeah they are absurdly strong. part of the issue with dosing cyans is you never really know how strong the trip is gonna be because they are so small and the potency varies so much from mushroom to mushrooms. i have had 1g trips that were as strong as other 2g trips. that basically never happens with cubes.

I like to grind them up and put them into pills for standard dosing.

I think most contamination depends on harvesting conditions. Harvest when its dark/cold/humid. Avoid buggy shrooms too and make sure you use clean scissors and cut away from the poop.

im usually lazy about that last part, it would just take such a long time to do it that way and the people whose land I pick on have mixed feelings about me being out there. like they allow it but they would rather I didnt so I try to make it quick. I end up just cutting off all the ends before I dose but by that time whatever bacteria is there has come into contact with the rest of the mushrooms since theyre all in sack and it's kind of pointless

Oh but they were...

I would like to thank the Portland Police Department for dumping and spreading manure from their stables in back fields of Portland.  Without you, I would not have found a five gallon bucket of them in less than an acre.

 yeah the rich neighborhoods seem to fertilize their yards with manure around here and always provide a neverending supply of cinctulus in the spring. the looks you get from homeowners are always kind of amusing but I've never had any issues with cops. TBH though I don't bother picking them anymore because I have to eat like 10g for what I could get out of 1-2g of pan cyans.

unfortunately all we have around here are cubes, pan cyans, gyms (which are beyond worthless for tripping imo), and cincts, I'm jealous of the PNW variety. especially that you can find them in the forest and such, makes for a more interesting and enjoyable hunting experience. picking cow pastures is really dull.

What are those on the bottom right?

Actually, we don't find that many in the woods.

I find the vast majority of mine in urban and suburban areas.  The rest are out on the coast in the dune grass.

There are tons of edibles in the woods though.  I should go pick some tonight!

I only go out once a year. This year I brought home 2.5oz of mostly pan cyans and a few cubes. That last me all year until the next season. Like I said the people whose land I pick on aren't thrilled about me being out there but they let me do it anyway cuz they're chill libertarian redneck types

I don't see many slugs down this way (SE TX)

I was actually asking piggy. I see a bunch of slugs in the fall and mushrooms are all they have to eat.

Fall can be harsh on the east coast. Nothings been growing for the past month.
