It seems like people may be pinning at spawning to a mono, can someone provide me any info on this?

we do it all the time with standard cubes. works fine, so fine in fact that some of us always do it. i haven't tried it yet with PE but feel like it wouldn't work. who knows though, maybe i should try

So I can take my tub that I spawned 3 days ago, that is starting to pin randomly, and I can allow it to start pinning more by putting it in fruiting conditions? I'm confused on how that'd work and why one would deviate from the 7 day colonization followed by polyfill stuffing& fruting conditions

If it's pinning so soon after spawning, it might be due to a contamination. Mushrooms in distress tend to pin early to have a shot at spreading spores. How does the tub smell? Got a picture?
It's been established that 'fruiting conditions' can be introduced right after spawning. More FAE means faster colonization time. You might get a more even pinset if you keep the FAE down a bit until it's decently colonized, though.
EDIT: If you decide to keep this tub I would definitely move to fruiting conditions to give those pins a shot at maturing.

Since we don't have a picture of this it's really hard to say what's going on.
All my tubs get polyfil right away and I have yet to see pinning before full colonization.
Consolidation is for highly nutritious substrates like Brf cakes.

one would deviate from the "standard" way of doing things because one was curious to find out if one was doing things unnecessarily. this is how one has moved from being a caveman to cloning spotless red heifers. some "one" decided to fruit that bitch and reported to the rest of us that it seems to work rather well. at this point, a lot of ones have tried it and really like it better.
there is no real reason to believe that it is better to tape the tubs up in the first place. it's just what we were all told to do. honestly, my gut told me it was wrong the first time i ever made a tub but i did it because i was supposed to.
i'm not of the opinion that one is better than the other. i just haven't tested it back to back with the same culture enough to have a solid opinion on it.
an yeah, if your tub is pinning that quickly i'd be either super stoked to have the fastest culture the world has ever seen or super bummed that my tub was about to go green on me. post a picture like tiger said and we'll try to help
