I think there are definite trade-offs between speed, temperature and contamination. I have no evidence to support this but it seems like the mycelium is happier than bacteria to grow at low temperatures.
I once dropped part of a container of oyster spawn all over the bottom of my soapy SAB when doing G2G, I gathered it up and put it in the fridge and it made a full recovery. It could have just been the power of oysters though.

Looking good they can be tricky I’ve failed at them 3 times in last 6 months but I’ve ran pan cam before I got more bulk incubating now be sure to keep ur sub thin as they are prone to going anaerobic and ur casing super thin (no more than 1/4 inch) also your sub should be at least 50% percent poo. Use poo and a lil bit of verm and only cut ur spawn it at 30%. Make sure they get plenty of fae good luck keep us updated I should have sum pic if all goes well in next few weeks here a pic of my pan aus bulk tray

That in 2 weeks is pretty average IME.
Sounds about right. 2-4 weeks is normal with agar for me. I see people say that they get 100% in ten days or less, but usually their grows end up with mold/bacteria issues
I can get full colonization in 10 days cut ur dish up into quarters then add a quarter at a time After each wedge put the lid on lately and roll the jar head over heels which will move the wedge down the side do this after each one and you will get wedges all the way down on the bottom and up the other side after a few days shake vigorously and you will be all but fully colonized a few days later

I've had full colonization in 7 days b4. These are moving slow partially cuz of the temp. Both look healthy tho, the ape is a lot slower than the rw but still looks healthy

Personally, I'd rather open the lid and plop 2 wedges in at one time. Especially if I'm doing several jars, and some agar work, and whatever else needs to be done.
I'd like the faster colonization time, but I really don't mind waiting. Are you using a whole petri per jar?

Depends if I’m low on colonized jars I will if not I just use a 1/4

7 days just seems crazy fast. I actually have too much spawn for my needs right now, but I have some PE that I'd like to get rolling on.
Do you get 7-10 days on multi-spore like that?

7 days is g2g or LC for me. You can get it down to 3-4 days depending on amount used to inoculate and other factors. Sounds too fast for a2g unless on day 1 you’re shaking the hell out of it and the agar is soft enough to break apart. Maybe 10-11 days but a week for agar to grain isn’t the norm

Yeah, I'm getting 9-12 days on G2G at 75f. I don't see how I could get MS A2G faster than that.

That being said, I usually do a gentle shake down after 2-3 days, a firm shake at 20%, and a final shake at 90%. I feel way better about my spawn at the end than what I was doing through the summer. It's probably excessive but And I wouldn't feel comfortable opening my jar 4 times as opposed to 1 time, even in front of a hood.

You should try and do them all at once. It's not tough to distribute the wedges evenly and opening a jar/plate one is much better than 4x each.

Playing around with my toothpicks again.

What are you loving there? The mold on the surface or the coir?

I dont see mold. Then again im on a low res device. If there is mold it's minimal and after 2 months anything else would be a tam-bomb ready to devastate your environment as soon as you open the container
