Using my oven to innoc? I keep failing in normal room.

I had great success with my first inoculations but there is way too much stuff going on in the room to continue inoculating in here. My last attempt failed horribly with a bag full of green. And with the bags being 25$ for 2 I'd like to keep the success rate high.

I've mentioned oven use for innoc before but was shot down by people saying it's unnecessary. Here's my thing it's either that or the bathroom and s bathroom is dirty to me.  I like the idea of the 350 degrees sterilizing the air and blowing hot air over your work space. You are also free of the glove box and Have more space. Why is this frowned upon? Can someone elaborate ??

I've seen videos with people having great success.  And the Heat doesn't bother me. Why don't more people use this method or do you guys just not like using your ovens?  I'm even lucky I have electric utilities so it will regulate the temp nicely I can see not doing it I feel you're using propane.  So thoughts? Opinions?

The oven tek is bullshit. You need a flowhood with proper hepa filter to do open air transfers with any rate of success.

I know the oven tek works sometimes but even with no oven it will work sometimes...

Understandable. So what's my best chance then? I don't want to shut the fan off in the grow room and spray down with Lysol, I'm unsure if that will have a negative effect on the tubs. So I'm going to have to use another room, many people say bathroom but I feel as though it could be dirty. I guess I'll still use a glovebox in the bathroom but if I spray it down with Lysol and clean it then let air settle do you think that will be sufficient ?

I use a big clear container. I spray a bleach/water mix down and wipe every surface including container... I let the tub overhang off my table just enough to fit my hands up underneath, I alcohol sterilize everything before entering into box and needle rests in alcohol wipe etc. flame sterilize before innoc. My first attempt I had no problems at all, I did 6 jars and 2 bags  on separate occasion with no problems... then I tried 2 more and they turned green. Well one bag did the other didn't.... koh sumai and Cambodians. The Cambodian syringe had dried black on the cap and it raised concern but I wiped down with alcohol and used it. That's the bag that turned to shit so not sure if that had to do with the contam. Maybe the syringe is just shot.... so after that failure I've been hesitant and trying to think of the best way.

Also... it's very cold where I live it's 16 degrees Fahrenheit today... when I ordered my jars and first 2 bags it was 70-80 and warm. The bags that failed were shipped in 30-40 degree weather 3 day shipping as well as spores..... can these low temps for 3 days hurt or kill them causing my contams?  Now that's it's 16 degrees I'm even more afraid to purchase new bags. I've made my own syringes but I need the bags as I don't own a PC.

It’s shot down as a sab works perfectly fine.  Inoculating bags in a sab is tough as you have little headroom.  All that said, what are you inoculating with?  If it’s a syringe, then this is all really moot.

Edit:  I see you used syringes....they are often dirty and is likely your issue.  Look into agar.

i have never seen anybody say use the bathroom.... i havent been using this site for long but i spend at minimum 2 hours a day reading it and not once have i seen that....

Buying premade bags is bullshit, make your own. Use a SAB, no gloves attached. Turning your fan off for a few minutes will be fine. Lysol does fuck all, throw it away. Go read Bodhi's TEK.

Thank you for feedback. So I suppose my best bet is my grow room then? And  Just wait for air to settle first go about my normal methods ?    After the trich in the innoc bag I got a small piece in a tub I cut the infected corner out and patched with vermiculite, the tub fruited fine still but I suspect it probably came from the green spawn bag that went south. For this reason I am worried the spores are still airborne and can foil any future attempts I have at this. 

Is there any way to re sterilize the room from the mold spores to highten my success? I used a glove box and every other safety precaution. But somehow it contammed. It may even not be my fault but you never know

The room doesn't matter. You can have green on one side of your substrate and it won't even contaminate the other side in the same tub.

Forget about the ambient spore load.  Your issue is dirty syringes.  Shooting spores to grain is a gamble.  :shrug:  if you really want to get things moving in the right direction, look into using agar to produce clean cultures.

So then the reason I got a contam is likely due to an uncleanliness error or like mentioned a bad syringe most likely.  You're saying as long as I'm thorough and use the glove box I shouldn't have any problems? If I do it's likely a shit syringe? I'm pretty anal with the prep but I could've screwed something.

Glove boxes are shit. The gloves work like a set of bellows and push and pull air in and out, in tern causing an in and out flux of contaminated air. With a SAB, still air box, the goal is no air currents to disturb and carry contaminations on the air.

I thought this too. When I started cultivating there wasn't as many people doing the no-pour thing.

I started doing agar 1 month ago and I have like, 75 plates going. I've got biopsy LC, master jars colonizing, and tons of plates with clean mycelium to keep going. I do a variation of no-pours but using mostly 125mL jars instead of the plastic containers that the pasty plate tek uses. I do use some plastic containers but prefer jars.

I've been using malt extract agar premix that I bought on Amazon for a decently good price


tl;dr agar isn't actually difficult, it is intimidating, but it will only improve your mycology skills and it can easily be done in a SAB, no need for a flow hood. any newb can pull it off.

I don't know what to call what I do. I explained it earlier.... I have a big clear tote and I let it hang off the ledge just enough for me to reach under and do my work with the stuff on The table. This worked twice for me but the last attempt went bad.

Put holes in the tub. Use a big can and heat it up. It stinks but you only have to do it once. Reaching under is certainly fucking up your technique.

On the site I deal with I've seen that they sell a big jar of LC.... apparently you can put 5cc in there and the mycelium grows and it says it can do 40 jars or 12 bags. That seems great but I was skeptical. What is this form called like the proper tek name for that. Also they sell premade agar plates, was considering buying some to try the agar method first then if I'm successful make all my own..... I've done spore prints and made my own syringes by letting the spores drop into vials of sterile water and sucking up into sterile syringe which was extremely easy, so I might as well learn agar... I don't mind jars to innoc and grow, but I would much rather  innoc 3lb bags since I like the monotub grows better then the cakes in the fruiting chamber... so that LC jar or agar would save me a lot of hassle I believe.

Go to a brewing store in town and get light malt extract and make your own LC. You should be able to make enough to inoculate thousands of bags/jars for cheap. You can also then use the malt extract with agar agar or agar powder and make an agar solution for doing plates.

Do you own a pressure cooker?

I would suggest just trying agar yourself first off. If you buy premade stuff to practice you still may fuck it up when you go to do your own and have to mix it up yourself. You can do it for very cheap. buying premade stuff off websites is usually impractical if you wanna do bulk properly.

I'm in Canada so I find it highly likely the USA amazon website will also have premade agar mix that you just need to mix with water and heat up before pouring into jars. That's what I'm using because I got 100 grams for like $15

No I don't have a pressure cooker. It's the last big thing I need besides a hood. I've had really good luck just buying the premade spawn bags. It's mixed grain 3lbs 2 bags for 25$ I put each in a monotub and got 65g dry from tub 1 and 78g dry from tub 2 first flush so I really can't complain, not having a pressure cooker sucks.... should I buy a stove top one or one you plug in ??
