Not sure if this belongs here or what. But My question is, if I am somehow unable to dry mushrooms and they started to rot, would there be a degradation of active chemicals, or would they just be nasty and rotten and probably really gross but still active?

It appears my magic isn't working and I have not a clue what mold of the generous possibilities is growing on them. So you're going to have to be the judge of that because there's definitely more than one kind of mold.

If they're rotten they're trash. Don't be an idiot just to get high.

If your mushrooms have not dried completely they are going to lose potency if they are not kept in a sealed container in the fridge.
Fresh mushrooms without any drying will stay good in the fridge for 10 to 14 days. Just like regular mushrooms from the store.

Just toss them, not worth getting sick and high at the same time, thu shrooms starts decomposing the same time you collect them, you knew this could happen.

I dare you to show us a pic of the decomposition
I'd personally just boil the fruits for 20 min if they don't look like molten death of course. But if they are a few days past their prime I'd cook those and store the tea in the freezer. Pic?

I was gonna say... Restaurants use bruised and old mushrooms. All the time. Stir fry and serve over rice or something.

Bruised and a little old sure. But I wouldn't serve something described as "starting to rot" and my chef would freak out if I did.
