What tek are you using?
Your cake looks like its not fully colonised.

PF Tek is not outdated, I doubt it will ever end up as a useless outdated Tek. It's just not optimal for growing bulk, but bulk is still possible with PF Tek if you spawn the cakes instead of fruiting them as cakes.
I also lost a few grain jars the other day to that yellow dust Shit, but majority of jars are good so all is good. Just try better next time

What is this yellow dust mold? The other jar was getting the darker green/blue mold And what do you think caused your mold?

sorry i didnt get the question. i thought you were birthing the cake
I still grow with PF tek as well as shoe boxes but when you star using agar and grain to mono tub you get much higher yields.

Idk if there is a blue mold, but myc bruises blueish. I'm not good at identifying contamination by terminology or definition, I've just learned to see what is cube myc and what is not. I've never been able link any growing organism to the yellow dust that I've gotten a few times in my spawn jars, always just looks like someone sprinkled a thin layer of yellow dust sparsely lil here and there on the grain when I discover it. I don't even know if the yellow dust is spores or the actual organism since I only find the yellow dust. Let's call it yiest for no reason

Well it is safe to say that its a contaminant/mold and must be thrown out? I went ahead and tossed all my cakes and washed and scrubbed the jars/lids with hot soap abd water-rinsed and then poured hot boiling water for it to sit in while I ran errands. I am gonna make new cakes tonight and incoulate. Will do a few new things- washing my hands with alcohol and spraying down my SAB with alcohol and heating up my needle inside the SAB instead of outside
