Tek that doesn't require a lot of maintenance?

I tried the PF tek but didn't have the time to spray it multiple times a day so i gave up on it. Are there other teks that don't require as much maintenance?

You could do PFTek again, but spawn them to a bulk substrate.

1) Colonize cakes (to be broken up when spawned)
2) Pasteurize coir (or substrate of your choice, but coir is simple for starters)
3) Get some small totes or growing containers (6 quart shoeboes are all the rage)
4) Combine step #1 and #2 into #3.
5) Put it on a shelf and let it do its thing.

Unmodified Monotub is the way to go imho. Very low maintenance.

I do Coir as my sub and whole oat as my spawn. I use LC or agar to inoculate.

I agree on the monotub. If you dunk your spawn for several hours before spawning and have your monotub decently dialed in, you can get away with just letting it sit until the first flush.

If you were having to mist it several times a day it sounds like something wasn't right from the get go...or you're just mist happy and might have been over doing it. :shrug:

Monotubs and shoeboxes are pretty much the same thing so either is good. Use straight hydrated coir with your colonized oats. Incorporate a top layer of just coir.

Do the PF tek in a sgfc then.

It was made for people who worked 12 hour days.

Fresh air should be constant for best results, which is why you really don't even need to fan out a shotgun terrarium.  I was working 12 hour days when I designed that, and wasn't around for 14 hours at a time for misting or fanning.  I'd mist when I got home from work, at bedtime and just before leaving for work.

For cakes to pin properly, they must be getting fresh air, which causes evaporation of moisture.  This moisture must be put back in a few times per day.  Misting the sides of a terrarium is a waste of water.  Mist the substrates.  The overspray will land on the perlite, keeping it moist to provide humidity.
