Psilocybe cyanescens on agar 1

Was sent a spore print of p.cyans and have just started cleaning it up on agar. The print was surprisingly clean. Here is my first agar to agar transfer with them.
Will post updates as it progresses. Happy shroomin!

that's a big chunk of agar! I've found smaller pieces help when cleaning up as there's less chance of a contam hitching a ride... Josex did a TEK called the biopsy... uses tiny amounts. might be worth a read

on the other hand, this might work perfectly and I've misunderstood your picture. In this case, I'[ll shut up

Maybe it's the lighting but that doesn't look like myc bro. And those transfers are enormous. Kind of defeats the purpose of doing a transfer if you're transferring half a plate to another plate.

Saved pic onto phone first. Yea it is a big chunk I realise that but the original plates were pretty clean so I thought Thered be no harm in t taking a decent sample of the clean stuff and 24 hrs later the myc is spreading with no contamination. I have done 2 other plates with tiny chunks cos there was a touch of contam and they seem to be growing out fine with no funky looking neighbours. This is my first go with agar ever so it’s all very new to me still. I’m just glad I’ve managed to make it work regardless of how silly it may look to anyone else. If it looks stupid but it works it ain’t stupid is it they say? Lol I reckon it is the light cos the myc is actually pure white and is p rhizomorphic like other cyan pics I’ve seen. Thanks for the tips n that tho guys it’s all appreciated! Gotta learn somehow!

Yea there was some regular patches of myc but I read that the rhizomorphic bits are more vigourous so selected them for the transfer. I have seen some other threads on here that show pretty similar myc of cyans. It’s moving scarily fast. I guess I’ll have to just see if it takes to some wood shavings. Someone reckons it’s slime mould but I haven’t seen any slime moulds like it. I saw the fruits the print come from and they defo were the old wavycaps.. time will tell I suppose

If that does turnout to be cyan you should really consider sharing the genetics.

Thanks xerox! Great fun to watch growing!
sunbeam, who would you suggest showing the genetics to? Someone who can study it closely? It is the most vigourous myc I’ve ever worked with.
