Casing Question
    #2562312 - 04/15/04 05:22 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I know this question is hard to answer, but I really want to know the answer so please do not flame.

Someone told me that using a colonized quart of wbs in a 6"x8" casing will give a substrate depth of about 2". Cased with 60/40 coco/verm it will produce about 1/2 Oz per flush.

What I want to know is if this is accurate. Also I want to know the difference between a 2" substrate and 1" substrate. What will the yield be for a 1" substrate depth? Most people I talk to say 1" is the way to go.

Any help is appreciated. I know yield isnt an easy question to answer but I really would like to know how many casings to do in order to get my expected yield.

Thanks again

He he he....these are actually a little smaller then that and they had no problem giving a half oz dry per flush.

First flush

2nd

I would think that a 1 inch casing would do half as much or so, (don't jump at me I know it doesn't work like that in every case) but the casings in the pics have a substrate depth of about two inches or so.

The key is to keep contams down between flushes. I usually flush them about three times before I'm sick of them (which means I have more then enough shrooms for me and to give friends) or they need to be replaced cause I have to use the space on a new casing.

You know it's very rairly that you hear "man, I flushed that casing till it just couldn't flush anymore"

mathematic lesson:
let's assume you have a full quart of WBS(usually there is a little less in there, but let's assume it is 1 full quart).
1 quart = 57,75 cubic inch
The area of your casing is 6 inch x 8 inch = 48 square inch.
57.75 cubic inch divided by 48 square inch is 1.2 inch , which would be the depth of your substrate

>Cased with 60/40 coco/verm it will produce about 1/2 Oz per flush.
This depends on how big the flush is, but in all flushes it could produce more than 1 ounce dry.
