So im using a 23 qt presto and im putting jar lids on the bottom to hold up the tray, and I'm still getting some burning in the bottom of my jars. Using fooman's, sometimes I have perfect jars and sometimes they are a bit burnt at the bottom, not sure what I'm doing wrong? should I be using higher heat to go to pressure faster or lower heat to go to pressure while hopefully not burning the jars?
can I put a small towel underneath the jars so that they absorb less heat?
having difficulty fitting all 10 in when I use the jar lids, do you guys use the lids and the plate at the bottom or just the plate?

Yeah I use a taller trivet and about an inch and a half of water. Bring to pressure on high heat and then bring it down to low with a constant 15 psi for an hour and a half. Never had any problems. Just out of curiousity are you gas or electric?

If your doing 10 jars just use the plate don't raise it up with the jar lids. What kind of burner is on your stove? Gas? Are you running out of water in your pc?

I have the same PC and I add 3 qts of water to it with one table spoon of vinagar (optional) to start with. Then I turn the stove on high and once it starts to vent wait 10 minutes! Do not skip this step! Then I put the toggle on and heat it to 15 psi. Then turn it down to 3 1/2 or 4 u will have to test it and see what works on your stove. (I normally turn it down when it reaches 13 or 14 psi, it will continue to heat up for a minute and will get to 15-16 psi and stay there.)
Ps I also modified my toggle so it doesn't shake and make noise the whole time it runs. This also makes it so it barely looses any water at all, even after 2-3 hours. Take 3 quarters, stack them together and tape them to the top of your toggle. I used electrical tape. I'm sure u could use ducktap or any other strong tape. Then use your toggle as normal. It won't start to shake until it hits 18 psi - which is my warning to get off the couch and turn the heat down a bit lol. Good luck!
Edit: I use an electric stove so hopefully someone with a gas stove can chime in also.

How much noise is being made when it's operating? Is it a small spurt every so often, or a continuous whistle, or what? Generally you want it to be almost silent at 15+ psi. If you can't get it to be quiet, tape coins on your weight or something. Losing too much steam/water, and replacing it with more is going to cause the grains to dry out and burn. Honestly you should only lose like max a pint of water during a 90 min cycle.

Not at all. They're tested to handle 100+ psi. 15 is a pretty light load for them actually.
