I disagree. They both require basically nothing.

The entire purpose of the fruiting chamber is so you have to do less and less work vs open air fruiting. That's how I look at it.

Not as some life support chamber that is the only place they can survive and still needs human interaction.

Yeah I love being able to walk away for a week. Wish I was growing flowers too to fill some time.

I like shoeboxes for all of the above reasons.
cheap,discreet,easy(no mod),less footprint,and pretty standardized.
Plus,if you grow a shorter variety, they can be used as all in one FC with the lid on.:awesomenod:

If you have time and money and wanted to be serious you can do what gourmet growers do and make fruiting chambers.
Here is a basic blueprint, so you can imagine the general idea and design. There's a few guides around.

If you are lucky and have good humidity, you should be able to skip the humidifier.
You can put quite a few shoeboxes in these, and walk away.

I've just had too much wowing successful results with my 66qt monos...I have the lining and taping up down to a science now and I've honestly never had a contamination pre first flush. The holes at substrate level also are a great placebo for me as a security blanket for the air flow and evaporation of moisture off the sub...the closest I'll get to a shoe box is doing my 5lb Oyster and Ahiitake bags

I've been looking at shoebox pictures on the picture thread for the last couple days and lots of the pictures show subs that's are literally dying for more FAE

I have one of these, but I stopped using it when I started with gourmet oysters (needed more FAE, devices).
I've considered one of these, but modified to suit mushroom cultivation, and add more FAE.

A wide tote should also fit a few tubs, you can also add water to the wide tote.
If you have a functioning SGFC, you can use shoeboxes inside.

I used to put some on mine on a windowsill with bright sun and wouldn't have to mist until second flush.  Humid areas ftw

I live in an extremely humid climate and I need to use a humidifier and regular interval misting all combined with negative air pressure for sellable products
