Well fellow growers, I was wanting to share with the community that I have been successful at an outdoor wood lovers plot here in the Mid-South. I started my innoc in January with azurescens and cyanescens to WBS. After the colonizing I transferred my spawn to wood chips and cardboard in tubs around end of March,April and let that colonize. It colonized quickly and i did one more transfer in May to a bigger tub with cardboard, woodchips and alder pellets into a bigger tub. Some time during May I moved to an outside plot with woodchips and kept an eye on moisture during our long hot summer. It is now november and unseasonably cold for here at the Kentucky and TN line. All my mycellium had spread great thru the summer and I now after 2 weeks of 30 to 45 degree weather have been anxiously waiting to see if I would get fruuts this year or have to wait until next year. This morning went out to check on the plot and actually found a bunch of primadoria and 2 or 3 actual fruits. I was pleasently surprised and tickled. So interestingly enough it is possible to be successful at cultivating these types of mushrooms that are not natural here. I was a little worried when I started my outdoor plot that these would even be possible in an area mostly warm to hot 8 to 9 months out of year. But after all said and done it is very possible to grow them even here in the South. I will attach a pic of the 1st fruits of the year!!! And hopefully lots more to come in the next few weeks.
As stated I just wanted to share that these strains usually only native to the Pacific NW are possible here and probably anywhere here in the midsouth. I have considered to even spread spawn all over in the woods to see if it is possible for them to be introduced to the area and stay in a longterm basis naturally. These sites would be introduced and left alone to hopefully reproduce year after year.
Who knows maybe this will turnout to be a sustained natural grower here and keep on producing all throughout the area for future generations to enjoy. And if not I can say as a hobbyist I tried!!!!
