Panaeolus In shoebox question
    #25619001 - 11/16/18 01:48 PM (6 years, 2 months ago)

Hello friends. When growing pans in a shoebox would you still apply a casing layer? I know people don’t really apply casing layers using shoeboxes because they’re so small. But what about with pans? Everything I’ve read says apply a casing layer but I haven’t seen any grown in a shoebox. Any info is appreciated. Much love.

Yes, pans need casing to fruit. Thin like quarter inch of 50/50 peat and vermiculite.

I grew some pans cayns like 7 years ago and did it in a shoe box. The whole sub and casing were thin like maybe an inch or just over. Any way they grew way to tall for the fc and I had to put a shopping bag on the fc for the extra head room.

I done do casings, but I use top layers. If you get a matted surface then I would try to score it and case it.
