Galindoi Truffles/Stones - advice needed (pics) 1

Friends, So I'm looking for advice from experienced truffle/stone eaters ... I am a complete beginner when it comes to stones
I have two jars of Galindoi truffles that for some reason I have not opened They were started in July 29, 2017 ... over a year now
questions i have are
1. From the pics below, do you think these are good and active? The jars look brighter white and caramel brown I have no idea, have never tried one
2. How do I take out the stones? Do i crack the jar or cut out the stones
3. How much do I take for a powerful journey?
4. Lastly, i've read mixed advice, many people say truffles is better to take in the day ... other say at night Do you prefer to take these at night or during the day?

In amsterdam they sell truffles fresh in 10g or 15g boxes as a one dose for one person. ( Not sure if just marketing, but the strongest ones are said to be a year old before harvested and the earlier the harvest the less strong they are )
If you dont want to eat them at this moment, you can store them up to 3 months in a cool / dark place without opening the sealed box. ( Stands on the back )
I was there, just 2 weeks ago and tried truffles with a friend. 10g fresh each, on an empty stomach, right in the morning. We were both experienced with cubensis, but man that went crazy on visuals. My friend said that sometimes he was thinking about that he ate a bit too much, but that went away pretty fast. ( i had the cosmic connectors and he had the Space shuttles )
Take care and better try lower doses for the start, because i dont know how potent your stones are
Edit: Here are the info-sheets we got handed out:

Since we took them in the morning, we were sober at the evening but we had to sleep to get kind of a "reset". The next day everything was normal again.

1. I would harvest them anyway and if they taste or smell rotten don’t bother. 2. I wouldn’t crack the jars open. Last thing you want is glass shards in your food and having to clean them off. Use a clean fork/spoon or something and scrape out what you can. 3. I would take 10-20 fresh grams. 4. Take them whenever you want to and are ready to. I usually get ready a few days in advance and eat the mushrooms whenever I have that calling lol.

Don't use a spoon. You're liable to break your bigger stones.
Just shake the jar or smack the bottom of it on a bike tire to get the grains broken up.

Al you sound like a very experience truffle psychonaut Do you prefer them over cubes ... is the trip better or cleaner?
i've read people say the journey is very different, curious about your thoughts.

For me, they seem to be a little more forgiving when it comes to taste, as opposed to cubes. Usually a clean trip.

In my experience with old jars, there's no way the grain will break up. You'll need to dig a bit first until the whole lot can be removed as a big lump, then break it up with your fingers to find the sclerotia.

My experience is the exact opposite with sclerotia forming species. The older it is the drier it is and the easier they break.

I wonder if grain choice determines this? The old jars I'd seen were using RGS. Perhaps it's different for larger grains?

This is such great advice thank you.
How do I preserve the stones I don't use?

Curious if anyone has tried to use a glass cutter (looks like a wheel with a sharp edge) and cut the jar horizontally in the middle ??

Hi Mike, I am a noob and just opened a 6.5 month old quart jar. It looked messier than yours but I still got 62 grams fresh. It smelled fine and the stones were solid, not mushy. No advice on how to harvest but my rye grains were almost all dry and I used a large spoon (slightly larger than a tablespoon and very solid) and I did not break any solid stones. The stones were fairly potent and I would agree with the 10-20g advice. From what I've read, if the jar smells bad or the stones are mushy I would discard. Depending on what you grew on you might need a toothbrush to get the grains off. The suggestion to shake your jar and pour and search is a good one. Much better than picking through spoons.

Brand, thanks a million for the advice. Will throw out trying to break the jar, and shake and scoop, and see what's there.
Did you put the rest of the stones in food dryer to preserve them?

I put my stones in a 1/2 pint mason jar, which I put in the fridge. I've read here that some people chop up the fresh stones, dry completely and make tea with it. I've also read one post where the poster soaked his stones (don't know if they were fresh or dry) in either 151 rum or grain alcohol, and reduce the liquid so that a small amount of fluid would equal a dose. I am sure others here have a lot more experience preserving stones.
