Hey all! Loving Mushboys’ Making Shrooms Tea thread but looking for cooking and baking ideas. Feel free to add yours!
Here is a thread from Roger Rabbit. It has lots of cool savoury recipes. It is mostly geared towards gourmet Shrooms but could be adapted to actives too. Recipe Thread
I love peanut butter cups and these are delish.
Peanut Butter Mushy Cups
Makes 28- 1g dose per Mushy cup
To bowl, add 1 cup peanut butter, 1/3-1/2 cup powdered sugar (your choice for sweetness but air on a bit more sugar to cover the shroom taste. Mix well.
Powder 1oz Shrooms in your coffee grinder. Add to peanut butter mixture and mix VERY well. Roll into a 2” log using parchment or wax paper. Put in freezer.
Melt 1/3 cup coconut oil and 15oz dark chocolate chips, careful not to burn. Recommend putting in bowl over pot of simmering water.
Put 28 paper muffin cups on a cookie sheet. I spray with cooking spray but you probably don’t have to. Put about 1/2-3/4 tablespoon melted chocolate in each. Refrigerate.
Take out your peanut butter log and cut into 28 pieces. You can weigh your log and divide by 28 if you want more accurate 1 g doses.
Put your peanut butter peices onto your cold chocolate and flatten out but not right to edge. Drizzle the rest of your chocolate over the peanut butter to seal it in.
Refrigerate. When cold, package and freeze.

Pro tip: using holiday themed paper cups adds that festive feel you and your friends will cherish 😝
Edit:
Just a couple of things I've learned along the way.....got this shit down to a science lol
-if using straight chocolate chips instead of melting chocolate, use less coconut oil, gets too melty in your hands when eating them. Good quality dark melting chocolate is preferred. -for a drier, easier to work with peanut butter filling always use Adams 100% natural peanut butter. Small jar (500g)for 28 cups, medium (1 kg) for 56 works great. -2 grams powdered shrooms per peanut butter cup works better, 2 cups (4 grams) is a nice average dose. They are too rich to eat more. It makes the peanut butter filling a bit drier so just add a bit of coconut oil to make it stick together for flattening out. -They hit you faster than you'd expect, closer to tea than just munching on whole fruits.

Looking for info on making mushroom butter. Are the actives even soluble in oil?

Sounds yummy, but a lot of work... unless you have a party and for fun I suppose.. but my parties are solo these days lol. I for chocolate mushies, I just get 2 giant chocolate bars and melt them down fondue style, then add the desired amount of crushed/ ground fruit, then just kinda mold and slap with a spoon into giant balls since the product gets so thick and easy to manipulate. Hmm, idk, since it's water soluble I imagine alot of the actives will get taken out when straining, not only by water, but by the cloth used, if thats the way strained, buuuuut... idk.... lol

I make a couple ounces at a time and freeze them. Doesn’t take long. Have no idea how long they last but bet it would be a long time!
I was thinking the same about oil but hoped someone had tried it. Maybe put in a slow cooker to release like with weed?

Buttered wild* mushrooms on toast
Ingredients 2 tbsp butter ½ rosemary sprig, leaves picked and finely chopped 1 garlic clove, crushed 200g wild mushrooms*, cleaned using a pastry brush, larger ones torn into pieces ¼ tsp Marmite ½ small bunch parsley, roughly chopped 4 slices sourdough, toasted
Method
Heat 1 tbsp butter, the rosemary and garlic in a frying pan over a medium heat. Once bubbling, toss in the mushrooms and cook until golden and tender. Add the remaining 1 tbsp butter to the pan with the Marmite and swirl it around to coat the mushrooms. Remove from the heat and scatter over the parsley with a little seasoning.
Divide the mushrooms between the 4 slices of toast, and drizzle over any butter left in the pan. Serve immediately

Mushroom* brunch
Ingredients 250g mushrooms* 1 garlic clove 1 tbsp olive oil 160g bag kale 4 eggs
Method Slice the mushrooms and crush the garlic clove. Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick frying pan, then fry the garlic over a low heat for 1 min. Add the mushrooms and cook until soft. Then, add the kale. If the kale won’t all fit in the pan, add half and stir until wilted, then add the rest. Once all the kale is wilted, season.
Now crack in the eggs and keep them cooking gently for 2-3 mins. Then, cover with the lid to for a further 2-3 mins or until the eggs are cooked to your liking. Serve with bread.
*Substitute required amount of dry/wet active mushrooms

Mushroom* Breakfast Burritos Serves 4 INGREDIENTS 20 medium crimini mushrooms*, cleaned and stems removed 1 tablespoon olive oil 3 tablespoons minced yellow onion 2 teaspoons taco seasoning 3 ounces spinach 5 eggs 1 tablespoon butter queso fresco 4 burrito sized tortillas favorite salsa
METHOD Place the mushrooms into a food processor and finely chop.

Stir in the taco seasoning, then add the spinach. Cook until lightly wilted, about 1 minute. Place the mixture into a bowl and set aside.

Oh I see, yeah basically last as long as the chocolate does, and that takes quite some time to go bad in a fridge... Maybe, weed attaches its self to the fat in the butter and then stored in the fat cells in your body.(why it takes so long to leave the system.) Where as psilocin, being water soluble, is stored and flushed out of the liver quick. While I imagine some actives would stick around in the butter itself, I would see a bunch getting absorbed by the water content and straining cloth. Though if you put enough.... I'd bet plenty would stick around... Let us know if you go for it and the results.

Tried this one this week, and it turned out great! I made them super light because I will be serving many different choices of mushy food at my annual “Who gives a shit” Christmas party.
Shortbread Mushy Cookies
350 f 10-12 minutes 1 pound butter 1 cup sugar 3 teaspoons almond extract 1 ounce ground dried Shrooms Food colouring optional, it does come out a sickly grey colour if you don’t 4 cups flour
In mixer, whip butter and sugar together till light and creamy. Add almond extract and ground mushrooms. If you want to add food colouring it is easy to do this now. Mix well. Add flour , mix thoroughly. Use a cookie press and make into cool Christmas shapes or roll into 2 logs and cut into 56 cookies (1/2g each)
Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in preheated oven. Bake 10-12 minutes. Tops will not brown so if not sure, just trust that they are done. The bottoms will turn a bit golden.
I didn’t add much food colouring. Next time I’ll add a bit more and make them with a mushroom shape in the middle
After cooling, bag and store in freezer. I’m not sure how long the actives will store at room temp so experiment if you like.

Oh, my mistake! Haha I was trying out the potency of the cookies. Ate too many apparently.
Everything I’m reading says it can’t be done. Sounds like you would have to do an extract first then add to the butter. I’ll keep looking but still not hopeful.

what I figured, seeing how it'd mostly get lost in the water content of the butter during the straining... oh well plenty more recipes to try out eh?

you know, sunnydayze, that recipe looks pretty similar to the go to sugar cookie recipe i make a lot. (if you search for land o lakes raspberry thumbprint cookies, that's the recipe i use.) i like to add an equal amount of vanilla extract along with the almond extract for them though. i get a lot of demands for me to make them again whenever people try them, though ive never tried shroomifying them before. >:3

Yeah, it’s a pretty basic recipe. Usually it’s made with vanilla but I prefer almond extract. Most of this stuff isn’t really about the recipes, just fun and better tasting ways of medicating. Post your new thumbprint recipe next time!
I never bothered with Christmas baking but this is inspiring me lol. I have done quite a bit of baking with pot, mostly for other people but I prefer Shrooms so the pot is off to the side.
Working on a butterscotch candy recipe right now.....
