I must confess, I'm no good at drunk myco work.  Looked at a stack of plates from a bunch of transfers from Monday......

Two are labeled, with nothing in them.  And I have two with transfers, and no label.  The rest look super sloppy.

I must also confess, I packed my dehydrator so full, I'm not sure if I should be worried.  I think it's time to build one....

I must confess, today fucking sucks.  Finished harvesting 19.8 lbs of fresh PE, dehydrators were very overloaded. Went to bed at 1245.  Woke up at 6 to be at work for 7, checked on them just to find my big one not working right.  Barely feels like it's  90 degrees blowing.

I won't see them again until 5pm at the earliest.....  Time to build a dryer.

FWIW I’ve been storing some of my
Fresh ones in paper towels inside Tupperware or baggies in the fridge. After 4-5 days change the paper towels and they should last a total of 10-12 days.

I was lucky to have 10mins this morning to reorganize the trays after initial shrinkage.  My wife confirmed it's blowing warm, just not it's usual warm.  I won't have a chance to do anything until at least 5pm

DONT put your fresh shrooms in a sealed container or bag. Put them in a brown paper bag in there and they will last like a month.

I must confess... When my girlfriend sees the mushrooms and says "Oh I can't wait!" Verbally I say "me too" but inside I say "You don't know what that means!"

I’ve done this 4-5 times with different amounts with no issue.  The paper towels keep the condensation off the mushroom, but don’t dry them out. I have some in my fridge that I put in there Sunday and they looked good last night.

That still doesn't mean they can not grow mold. That is not appropriate storage of mushrooms. That is not how it works in the industry. Working in restaurants over the years I have NEVER seen mushrooms shipped that way as they need air. That just violates how it should be handled as a food.

:whathesaid: thats why we dehydrate our mushrooms.

People always consider mushrooms drugs. Like yeah gets you high but its still food amd should be treated as such.

Why do they come sealed in plastic at Wal-Mart?

Yeah, pretty much every grocery store around me sells them in plastic 4oz, 1 lb, or 2 lb containers. They’re stored on a cardboard tray.

I’ve cut severa lbs of mushrooms and stored them in a metal  hotel pan covered with plastic wrap for a couple days with little/no sign of deterioration.

People have had them on thir station in 6th pans for 4-5 days and they’re fine.

I’m not saying it’s a good idea to pick them and put them in a plastic baggie. But it WILL hold with paper towels lining the bag or container. I didn’t have any paper bags, so I used what I had they they do hold for a good amount of time under refrigeration.

Edit: plus I’m not in the mushroom industry trying to ship them 1/4 of the way across the states. I’m just trying to hold some back. For a better opertunity.

As soon as the weather changed here, I am not getting pins. Like never mind that the inside
of my house is at proper temps.

They don't come sealed. 9 times out of 10 there are breather holes. And EVERY time they are wrapped loosely in cellophane.
