Does this ghetto SAB replacement look viable? 1

I threw out my glove box because it was too small and the gloves were difficult to work in. As a replacement I have covered the top portion of one of my shelves with plastic wrap and put medical tape around the edge. This should work, right? It seems too easy, but I don't see any major differences between this and an SAB. Is there something I haven't considered? I'm just using it for innoculating grains, not for agar.
If this works out okay I might look for a more permanent material then plastic wrap. I do mycology every day so I don't mind devoting a shelf to it. What would be a better material for this?

You gonna be able to see things well inside of there when you’re inoculating?

Should work but it's gonna be cramped in there.
Really you should just make a bigger SAB. Don't attach gloves.

I think thats brilliant. Should work. A SAB is better probably, but that's some stealth technology right there! Are you in a college dorm or something?

I would probably try to make the armholes smaller, another wrap with 2 holes, and make the rest of the room as "still air" as I could while using it. Cool idea.
It's all about probability as far as I understand and I think that would go a long way to reduce your probability of contamination.
Do you plan to lay a moist towel on the bottom and spray the walls down with soap/water mix or anything?

Thanks for the feedback guys. To answer your questions:
Yes, visibly is fine. A bit better then my glove box was actually.
I plan to do the inoculation at midnight. Since around 7 AM I have been wiping down my entire work area with 70% isopropyl alcohol every few hours. When doing grain or agar innoculations / transfers I wear a tyvek suit, polyester head covering, surgical mask, and gloves.
I will neither confirm nor deny that I am in a college dorm, but if I am then those syringes are definitely oyster LC

You should 100% wrap the bottom, too, and use a scalpel to cut arm holes into the Saran at a comfortable level. That angle looks terribly uncomfortable and unnatural. Plus you can eliminate all that open space. But yes, there's no reason this shouldn't work as long as it's sealed properly to avoid drafts.

You've been cleaning the same clean shit with alcohol since 7 am? Stop that. You're gonna need that alcohol.
And don't grow in a dorm. You have 0 rights if anyone wants to come search. Get an apartment at minimum.

Well I was using the workspace all day to make the syringes etc. Nothing stays clean in this building. So much damn trich.
You're probably right though, I do go through a lot of alcohol.

The main issue is people turning off the stove under my PC. Someone did it four times yesterday. Totally messed up some of my grains since I didn't know how long it had been up to pressure for. It's an electric stove, but I guess some people don't know the difference.
We are extremely under enrolled so I managed to get a double to myself this semester. Thus, I dont have to worry about people seeing me suited up. I only grow edibles here though so it wouldn't be an issue even if they did.
My room got searched once this year already because my RA could smell the ounce of top buds I had bagged up in a drawer (yeah I know I'm an idiot for not using a Mason jar). I managed to stash the cannabis and any active spores off campus before campus police got there, but I forgot that I left a bunch of active fruits drying on my box fan. Of course I also had mycology stuff everywhere. They either completely missed it, had mercy, or just didn't know what they where seeing.
Since that incident I've been keeping anything related to actives off campus.

yeah thats one of the upsides to this hobby unless you do it yourself most people wouldnt know what they where looking at.... obviously unless its huge mushies in a tub all the beginning stages are not commonly known. i would just play it off as canned health food.

Looks like it works well man, I seen something similar where the dude used a fish tank on it's side with plastic over the front and he just slipped his arms in under it. I think you could maybe cover a bit more of the lower section though.

I would also suggest adding a bit more saran wrap to the sides on the bottom.
I have used similar set ups with saran wrap in the past in a pinch and it can work.
Try to do your clean work as far above the opening as you can.
When you are working in a box like this, be careful not to catch your arm on the saran wrap.
Catching your arm on the saran wrap can cause the saran wrap to "fling" contaminants into the air when the tension releases.
