Diy electric scalple

Any reason flame sterilization is superior to an electric scalple? I want to make a RDA (vape)into an electric scalple because flames create a draft that pulls oxygen from outside the glove box. It would also be nice and convenient me thinks.

Your torch/flame should be outside of the box. And the gloves shouldn't be attached to the box.

There was a user on here who made an electronic inoculation loop out of a vape. If I remember correctly a scalpel blade took too long/too much power to heat up. Also about detached gloves and flaming outside the box.

Wouldn’t you make a draft of contaminated air every time you go in and out of your box? As well as picking up contams on your gloves from the air?

Maybe if you use a 12volt power supply you might get enough amps to power it

The draft from slowly bringing your hands out is minimal if your arm holes are big enough. You'll create way more drafts by attaching gloves to a box that isn't perfectly sealed and moving those around.
As far as flaming in the box goes, a bigger problem than drafts is fire and explosions! At least once a year there is a thread on here about someone flame sterilizing something and their alcohol fume filled box becomes a ball of fire.

you would want your still air box inside of a still air ROOM homie. Kind of a bitch in the summer but so worth it.

Yeah I’m in the works of building a 30gal aquarium style glove box that I think is fairly well sealed, plexy glass lid with gloves, hinge and weather strip around the seams as well as a a clasp to hold the door shut and a two door port for moving petris and what not in and out without moving the whole door. So an electric scalple scalple would be a cool addition to the upgraded glove box. I’ve really never had issues over the years flame sterilizing inside the box but if I could get around it with an electric scalple that would be cool.

What do we think about those cheap induction furnaces you can get on amazon? It’s function is similar to a bacticiner/ electric scalple heater?

That’s the thing about an electric scalple...no flame no explosions.

You are overthinking the sterile aspect of this.
You need to be clean, but you don't need to be "seal the entire aquarium off and build an electric scalpel" clean.
Thousands of people here have successfully used still air boxes in houses that are overflowing with mold spores.
Just flame the scalpel outside the still air box, but your hands through the holes, and get on with it.
The electric scalpel is a cool idea, but if your main goal here is to grow mushrooms, stop messing with gadgets and just do it the way everybody does it.
No need to complicate things like this.

You're over-thinking it. A big plastic box will work as well (or better) for a fraction of the cost and hassle.
Bacinerators are neat, I've thought of buying one.
Electric inoculation loop thread
You should really be posting all these cultivation threads in the cultivation forum, not the pub.
