Why do I need polyfil ?

I’ve seen a lot of mushroom farms here in China that don’t use polyfil on there bags and the just stick a hole in them when they want them to fruit so why do you need poly foil on the bags?

I'm thinking the holes are for a place for fruits to pop out. if its a farm they probably have climate control in the building so they don't have to worry about drying out as much.

Yeah they fruite them from the holes but they don’t have climate control lol they don’t have much electricity out there there just big open buildings
