Good post on the subject, Amanita.  I agree that Bundy probably wasnt exceptionally brilliant, but I think he was so unlike anything most of them had encountered before that by virtue of inexperience alone he was that much more difficult to pin down.  I mean, he was out there literally telling his name to folks on that beach, he wasn’t too bright.

The conflict between the report that his family was well-off vs the notion in this documentary that he was in the “have-nots” might be down to a couple different reasons.  If you recall, the “have-nots” comment comes from a childhood friend who may not be remembering things accurately, or maybe she grew up extraordinarily wealthy and to her subjective perception, he wasn’t well off.  Idk.  I think the filmmakers did a good job of nailing down facts where they could.

The execution tailgating was nuts.  I get that people wanted him gone, but it’s tough for me to imagine being that excited about it.

If you wanted to post your CIA operative theory, I would read it.

Also, I watched ‘Velvet Buzzsaw’.  It’s from the guy who directed ‘Nightcrawler’, and while it’s not quite great like Nightcrawler is, it was pretty good.  It’s a horror/thriller that takes place in the art world, and is a good commentary on that scene.  I can get why someone might not like Velvet Buzzsaw; pretty much every character is shitty (maybe with one exception).  They’re all these pretentious, pseudo-deep art people who care more about the commoditization and commercialization of art than they do about the actual value and purpose of art.  So I guess it’s cool when the art starts killing them.  Really strong acting from pretty much everyone, and some nice visual moments.  Overall, a decent but not great watch.

I’m watching two shows these days.  One is Russian Doll.  I’m enjoying it.  It’s funny enough, and I like stuff set in NYC.  Cool premise too, I look forward to seeing how it wraps up.

I’m two episodes into The Umbrella Academy.  It’s pretty good as well, kinda like if Wes Anderson directed an X-Men movie (but not really).  It’s a good story with a bunch of memorable scenes.  My favorite part is how they use music in it.  Whoever the musical director is, they made a bunch of excellent choices WRT how to best accentuate a scene with the right music.  That makes it a lot of fun to watch.

Wife and I binged Umbrella Academy this weekend becaue my wife read the original comic back in the day.
I was hesitant and only half paid attention the first few episodes because my chemical romance is gross,
But after a while it won me over and by the end I really enjoyed it.
Hope there is more.

Last night I watched a documentary about flat earthers called Beyond the Curve.  Not bad.  It was interesting to see how these people’s minds work.  It also showed that no matter the logic or facts you lay before a conspiracy theorist (of any kind) you’re really just wasting your time.  These peeps will not be deterred from their beliefs.
