Noob sadly could you please help? mycelium or cob web mold

Im trying to make a batch but have found these really white looking fluffy balls appearing. They also have tiny specks in them as well. While i got looking at the bottom of it and noticed some black spots happening. Is this normal?

Yea mold :frown: sad :frown: and growing in a fish tank is out dated. I don't know too many people using them anymore. I knew some ppl that used them like 10 yrs ago but I think most people have switched to clear plastic tubs now. You need good air flow which you cant get in a fish tank without an outside sourcs. Mold loves stale air! I have found the only times I get cobweb mold on a casing is when I don't have good FAE (fresh air exchange). Don't give up tho keep learning and you will get there! Look like too much moisture as well. Your substrate looks uncolonized as well which probably led to the mold taking over.

At the very least try to give it a lot more FAE

Its also confusing for your first couple times because you don't always know what to look for or what looks good. Don't give up!

Maybe try WBS next time, always had great results with that years ago.

Pick a Tek and follow it word for word, don't try and innovate until you have some successful grows under your belt:thumbup:

Exactly! I have done around 10 grows and every single one was successful. Only had a few jars that didn't make the cut. Followed everything to a T and wiped EVERYTHING with isopropyl alcohol.
