Tuber Borchii, inoculate seedlings
    #25612070 -

I have a question about Truffle Trees, and the various online companies selling inoculated trees.

What is the process to inoculate a tree seedling and is it something I can do on my own?

My target is tuber borchii, and the host would be Loblolly pines.

I purchased the trees and have them temporarily potted.

Can I buy a tuber borchii specimen when the season starts, put it in a blender and dip the trees in the slurry?

Is that all the companies selling trees do?

Someone on eBay claims to be selling tuber borchii mycelium, can that source be trusted?

Does anyone here have any advice to share, or a discussion about the topic.

Thanks everyone, this site is great.

I’ve had this idea for a while, I want to do black truffle raised beds with the recommended saplings...then when the time comes excavate the truffles and retire. I’d imaging you could get mycelium off line and expand it at home and then finally spawn it to your saplings.

I have no first-hand knowledge to offer, but here's an article where someone did this in the USA with Tuber melanosporum and Tuber magnatum.  You could try reaching out to him.

If you make a few hundred thousand dollars, let us all know
