coir question

I have a large tub of coir i prepped a few months ago. i bought way too much and didn't realize how much it expands when you hydrate it. anyway..
i've got about 5 quart jars of rye that are starting the consolidation process and i want to be ready with my substrate prep. since it's already been expanded, but is slightly dried out - what kind of ratio should i be looking at to combine with my verm? i screwed up my shoeboxes a while back by using weight instead of volume for a ratio so i just want to avoid any stupidity on my part as i'm anxious to have a harvest after being dry for a while.
i'm planning on doing a 1:1 volume ratio of spawn to sub with multiple shoeboxes going. i actually didn't lose any quarts to contam, just some pints that i did on a lark. i honestly dont' think pints work with rye but that's another issue.
i know it's not really necessary to sterilize the coir as cooking is just to help with mycellial growth but i'm just double checking that having it sitting in a tub for a few months isn't going to cause an issue. it doesn't have any growth on it, it's just dry, expanded coir. i have a good idea what field capacity is, i'm just wondering if there's anything else i'm missing or whatever. thanks

You need to re pasteurize your coir. I haven't used verm for awhile, its not really necessary if your coir is moisture prepped correctly it should be good on its own.
Your coir should be ok, all depending though. I remember letting coir sit in a cooler for way longer then you and yes it did put out a smell. I think at two months it should be ok to try.
