I’ll be growing gold teachers or b+ first. This is my first time growing I plan on doing a rye berry tea from agar. Please advise. Thanks everyone

Agar agar, is the ingredient that will make the media stable, LME, light malt extract, is the nutrient source for the mycelium. There are agar teks with different nutrient sources. I have used LME for some time with great success, I'd look through the search function to find a recipe that would work for you.

I have a link to Potato-Honey-Yeast-Agar in my signature. All ingredients are cheap, easy to find and plentiful. Pretty much grocery store shopping list. Most difficult to find is the agar-agar itself, but some grocery stores have it in the baking section in small packets. Last resort is amazon.

MEA malt extract agar 10g aga,r 10g Light Malt Extract, 500 ml water pc for 20 minutes 15psi, cool and pour in your flowhood. Or sterilize it in individual small tupperwares with a polyfil wad breathing port in the lid for no pour style if you don't have a hood and dishes. Enough to cover the bottom of each dish.

So what about Petri dishes can I make the agar and just pour it in them? And if so where do I store them? And why do you put polyfil ports in tupper wear for them to breathe but don’t with Petri dishes?

You can do a “ghetto” “no pour” style agar or traditional agar with petris. No pour agar is placed in a glass or pp5 plastic container then stetilized. The container must have a filtered gas exchange port to prevent implosion if plastic. A ge port of polyfil will allow the agar surface to dry out excess water on any plates.
